I chose the name Bugmuncher in 1999 or so because of a publicity stunt I engineered that had me eating bugs in front of a crowd of hundreds in July 2000 at Macworld Expo and Conference in New York.
I ate 3 "death's head" cockroaches, 3 madagascar hissing cockroaches, a tarantula, a scorpion and 3 hundred mealworms.
The reason? I swore that if my employer released any software with bugs in them, I would eat the bugs. Two weeks after I made this announcement, we shipped a very buggy game... and my screen name was born.
My only regret was that by saying I would eat the next year, a bunch of TV shows (Survivor, Fear Factor) showed up that had lots of people eating bugs on them. So the novelty had almost worn off by the time I chomped down.
FYI: If you ever eat a scorpion, please cook it over an open flame to singe off all of its leg hairs. Otherwise you could have scorpion hair caught in your gums. |

WAY cool. And good tip about the scorpion legs, if I'm ever stuck in the desert I'll be sure I cook 'em first. |

Yay mine now! actually Gatsu- comes from an anime sword of berserk and rendo is cut from orendokuken which is either a move on the old ninja gaiden or shinobi I dont remember or maybe it was made up hmmmm..... so yea I used to use Orendokuken all the time and Gatsu so I said the heck with it, it sounds cool to say Gatsurendo(Got-sue-ren-dough) just in case you pronounce it wrong there it is. |

Orson Scott Card lives near me in Greensboro, North Carolina. I grew up in Eden, NC about 15 minutes north of him and now live in Durham, NC, about 45 minutes East of Greensboro. He speaks at schools, belongs to some local writer's organizations and things like that.
My forum name is from the novel Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. The main character's name was Hiro Protagonist. I was using Protagonist as a forum name for a while before Heroes, but it is only one of a small list I use and doubly appropriate here. Hiro in Heroes by the way is named not for Hiro Protagonist (who was half Japanese) or necessarily for the similarity to "Hero" but for Hiroshima as his grandparents were survivors. Hiro Protagonist also has a sword by the way. It is a great book. It predates but predicts chat rooms, networked communication (written in 1992 when the web was just being born and there were just tens of pages). |

Okay, well my name, which I use for everything, gamertag, forums, e-mail, etc... was born about 4 years ago, when I was in grade 9. It has a rather strange story attached to it since I was a rather strange kid. It's actually pronounced Techie-Habeeb, not that's I'd expect anyone to know that, that's part of the fun, and each component has a story, so...
First: Tequi
Techie is because throughout my highschool career I was a Techie and proud of it. I specialized in Video Editing but also knew a fair amount about lighting, sound, and of course cameras and directing and such. I decided to spell it Tequi because at the time I though Purple People Eater was the most entertaining song in the world and at the end he say "Tequila" ... not that I like tequila, I'm actually very anti-alcohol and always have been but the randomness of it amused me.
Next: hby
Habeeb is a word that my best friend of the time (we're still friends but not beest friends) started using. I think she got it from an episode of South Park or something, I'm not sure. Anyways, the point is that at one time she decided to use it constantly, in place of pretty much every word in a sentence. We were amused by the fact that we could mostly still understand eachother when we spoke entirely in Habeebs but hardly anyone else could. We later decided to use Habeeb in reference to people we deemed cool (so basically the dorky and geeky people that the regular "cool kids" ignored). Then one time when we asked her brother to spell it for us he said "H ... B ... Y..." and we started laughing. So we decided that that was how Habeeb should be spelled just because it was fnny
Thus: Tequihby
I put the two together at some point because I decided it was a good description of me. I've used it ever since. Also, it still entertains me sometimes when people try to pronounce it. |

My best friend married a witch,
soon afterward my room mate at the time married another witch.
These ladies introduced me to the local pagan community
and I decided it was a lot of fun.
Every summer my wife (whose not a witch) and I
attend a couple of pagan fairs.
Every night there is drumming
and dancing around a big fire...
I dance for hours
in and out of a trance like state
slipping in and out between the Worlds
hence the name Zonedancer. |

| At the time when I was obsessed with Buffy I joined a Buffy RPG on Yahoo! and created a character named Lienna. Don't ask me where the name came from, I can't tell ya, but it kinda stuck so I use it for everything. It's like my online alias... |

Mine is a play on "Diana the hunter" from Roman mythology (Artemis in Greek mythology) . . . and that was already taken at Yahoo so I changed it around and came up with "The Huntress Diana".
I'm also a big Wonder Woman fan and her name is Diana too so that worked too. |
