The first thing I said after seeing Sylar slicing lil petey up was that is going to be his scar.
However, where Sylar said "This is the part where most people scream".....makes me thing that someone is going to come in or peter is going to invoke some kind of power. Obviously invisibilty wouldn't work, he'd leave trails of blood. Erm....maybe telekinesis to 'push' him away? Then fly?
Future hiro tho, awesome.
I wonder if NBC know that if they ever kill Hiro, the ratings will drop so much as he is everyones fave!
Dunkit, im thinkin the scar will not happen due to Future Hiros intervention, asking him to be the one they need i believe the time line has been changed and now he will never get the scar, in the preview they showed a new shot of Future Hiro, im wonderin if maybe he comes to tell Pete he succeeded.......................time will tell.
I wonder about that. I also thought that ep 18 was how Peter gets his scar, it certainly seems set up that way. A lot of things could happen though, as the preview shows, but we don't know the order of things. You would think that, since future Peter has a scar, then present Peter should get one too. Also I think that the fact that there IS a future Peter is rather interesting, isn't he supposed to explode (which is what they are currently trying to stop)?
I guess the only way to find out for sure will be to watch ep 19.

Somehow, I think that was just creative editing. I think that Sylar is actually saying that to Isaac right before he kills him. Isaac doesn't scream, because he knows what's coming.
By saving the cheerleader, they have almost saved the world, but the actual plot point that prevents New York from going boom hasn't happened yet, so if you time travel to Nov. 8, you still wind up with a crater.
Claire stopped Ted from going Hiroshima in Odessa. If the cheerleader were already dead, Ted could easily be carving a swath of destruction across America. This is part of the "Save the cheerleader. Save the world." equation.
When Peter was learning to control his powers, he thought he was going to explode. Does anyone remember if he ever met Ted? When he dreamed of nuking NYC, he was wearing Sylar's watch. Perhaps his dream was not his own, but Sylar's, from having absorbed Peter's precognitive dreaming ability, but this was before Peter knew he could heal when he needed to. Now that he knows he can activate his healing, he can prevent Sylar from eating his brain.
Also, if he winds up unconscious for a few weeks, that's plenty of time for a scar to form, and since it's already healed, it won't go away just from activating the healing.
Personally, I think the scar is superficial. Th kind that heals over the remaining episodes, similar to the one on that bald guy on Lost.
Other than that, Tim Kirng might be having some fun with us. Becuase here's the thing. If Peter never saved Claire and got her power, how could he have survived the encounter in the first place? (Intervention, probbaly). So, if he IS rescued it asks the question, why save the cheerleader?(I think that is still what is unanswered)
I think that after Peter does his scream, the wound begins to heal. Peter stills works largely out of instinct, like whenClaude tried to hit him with the stick - he stopped it with a power he never knew he had. So, if he's getting his head cut off, his instincts should kick in and heal the wound.
Followed quickly by, "This is usually where people start screaming."
Then, Peter throwing Sylar across the room.
Mohinder falls to the floor.
Sylar runs, etc..

Or Peter stops screaming because he heals.
You really think two people are going to die in one episode? By the same person?
There's a spoiler out saying that only one person dies, and it's neither of them. Rather:

Part of the healing power seems also to be lack of pain, since Claire has walked around with a hole in her stomach without even noticing, walked around burnt to a crisp without even a grimace, etc. So Peter isn't screaming because he feels no pain. He also likely heals from the wound at some point, though it may not be immediate. Remember when Claire woke up on the autopsy table? A very strange twist (which I hope doesn't happen) could be that Sylar gets Peter's brain and Claire, understanding her powers, along with Nathan and others, try to track down Sylar to get Peter's brain back to put it back in so he can regenerate. I realize that's a little far fethced. But what if Sylar somehow get's Peter's powers? What if he's the one that explodes? And Peter saw himself because Sylar was using Peter's powers from his mind? Very far-fetched, but I'm just having fun with this now. Now if Sylar had gotten the cheerleader's power, he could explode, regenerate, exlpode regenerate. But now he can only explode once and then die, so only NYC will blow up, where otherwise he could theoretically blow up every city in the world. Anyway, that's not likely. Besides, it seems that Ted's power doesn't harm the one using it anyway. Why does everyone assume the one who explodes dies? When Ted exploded at Claire's house he was fine afterwrds. Just throwing a bunch of crazy thoughts out at you...
If Sylar took Peter's brain, he'd more likely than not end up with Claire and everyone else's abilities, as well, as they are now Peter's abilities also. He'd have to take his memories, though, as well, simply because of the way Peter's powers works. Otherwise, those other powers are useless to him.
I've never thought the exploding man died, in fact, I still hold tight to my theory that Nathan flies him (or tries to) out of the city, or at least high in the sky, so that the explosion does minimal to no damage.
Personally, I hope they explain the scar. I just find it to be an interesting statement made by Future Hiro, and one that seems to also be a part of his "Future" character. Things in your past, shape your future. Whatever causes the scar, could be the reason Peter becomes the "leader" that alot of people speculate he could be in the future.
Secondly, if they just never show us a scar (as some people speculate that the timeline has changed and peter will never get a scar), it will be a loose end that is never tied up. Sure, in some interview somewhere they can just say "Oh, yeah, Peter never got the scar because he saved the cheerleader." But that isn't good storytelling, and Heroes has some of the best storytelling on TV. So I wouldn't think they would leave that out.
Part of a theory I posted elsewhere had Hiro and Ando, now in the future, meet up with "future Peter". To expand on it, maybe part of their interaction involves Hiro asking where his scar came from and Peter explains it or at least hints as to what happened to give us a bit more detail. Of course, this assumes that he does still get the scar.
Incidentally, I would love the irony of this. Future Hiro commenting to present Peter about his lack of a scar then having present Hiro comment to future Peter about having one.
funny i totally forgot all about the apparent Scar..
thanks Acid twister for bringing up this video.. now we all know that what sylar did to him is not the one Future uber sweet kicking katana carring Hiro meant by the "scar"
