And numerous people wrote in with the following question as well, but we figured we'd hand it over to one Javier Caro from Peru who asks, "If Peter absorbed Claire's powers, and he can heal, why does he have a scar on his face?"
We answered that question last week. We can tell you two things. First, it is not a mistake, Peter can regenerate, but he still has the scar. Secondly, we'll show you how later on in the series. We promise.
But I still like my theory...darn it...I don't like being wrong
Okay, so maybe I missed it, but I didn't see anywhere in that link that it said that peter with regeneration still has that scar...

There has to be some reason he can't regenerate. It could be similar to Hiro's lapse of control over his power . . . Perhaps Petey really does go boom, and the guilt leaves him temporarily powerless . . .

But if he was left powerless, he'd die from going boom.....He could have been given this scar by anyone during the time between present and 5 years from now. That said, Hiro might not be the cause, Peter himself might not be the cause, Claire obviously won't be the cause, HRG, Parkman, Linderman. Pick one, cause it could be any of them, or none of them.

Not really. I don't think Ted could be harmed by his own power. He's hadn't gotten radiation sickness, lost hair, etc... He wasn't even harmed by almost going up in Claire's house. So, taken to extremes, he (and Peter) should be able to pull themselves together after exploding.
Sorry but i missed the part where Past Hiro found out Claire was alive... hadn't he though Jackie was Claire? In "Five Years Gone" He Tells Fute Hiro, She's Alive... ?

My memory may be off (someone check me on this), but could it have been when Peter told him that Sylar had been captured?
However, I'm sure that his scar he received would cauterize while he was exploding, giving him his distinct scar that we see.
That, Jorm, is an awesome thought.
I just took a Greek Mythology class this past semester, and it's like the story of Heracles and the Hydra. Each time he would cut off one of the heads, it would grow back (I believe the central head, however, was immortal, so he had to deal with that one differently). Anyway, to stop a head from growing back, he would chop it off and then cauterized the area - thus, regeneration could not occur because the wound was burned shut.
You's a genius, Jorm.
Thoughts everybody?
I agree...that is a great explination as to why a person with incredible healing would have developed a scar like that. Brilliant! And this would tie will into the theory that Peter is asking Claire to kill him if he goes Nova....She grabs (is given) the sword and slices at Peter to stop him.
I like that theory (though I think it's Hiro who slices Peter, not Claire. Just because it's apparently the same style slice. That denotes the same hand doing the slicing. ) Actually, I kind of like the cauterizing idea better than my subconsious blocking of healing theory. And it ties in with the way Claire's power works.
Way back in the 1st episode, after she jumped off the platform, she was walking home with her friend and he pointed out two of her ribs that hadn't healed. She had to push them back into place before they healed and the side wound closed up. Also, when she was in the morgue, when she came back to life, her chest didn't heal from the examination cut until she pulled the sides back together.
So possibly, if Peter's scar is a cauterized wound, it wouldn't heal until he cut away that tissue. Then his face would heal perfectly.
If in F. Hiro's timeline Claire's still alive, then it stands to reason that Peter saved her, yet didn't get her ability? Doesn't really add up, does it?
Actually, TPTB (the writers) have stated in a chat that F. Peter is the same Peter we've been watching; he DOES have Claire's power; the scar isn't a mistake or dramatic license and they WILL explain it later (next season?)

This has been one of the longest ongoing questions of the series, ever since episode 5, and I'm sure I speak for us all when I saw that I can't wait to see/hear the explanation. ~Sigh~
Theoretically, the wound would not heal until the blade was removed, much like what happened with the branch and the glass shard, or how Claire needed to reset her ribs and Pete had to twist his leg around.

Almost right on but wrong character thats all. It was Issac in the diner after meeting hiro. He told both hiro and ando that the man cutting heads open was captured so they didnt need to worry.
