The Writers' Strike will be happening at 12:01am this coming Monday (November 5), barring any last-minute deals (Source: CNN).
In preparation, Heroes is filming an alternate ending scene for the December 3 episode, so it can also serve as a season finale, depending on how long the strike lasts. (Source: Ausiello.)
Thoughts?

Chill, Herc!
If the strike doesn't last that long, they'll probably scrap the alternate ending. It's just in case the strike lasts a really long time. If the strike ends before December 3, we won't see this alternate ending, and the season will keep going.
Edit: Merged with "Heroes: Exclusive Finale News."
I bet there are people here who could fill in for the writers.
I don't know whether it's a greedy network, prima-donna writers, or both, so I hope they find a solution they can agree on before then. I really despise reality shows and game shows.
I hope they do, Flapjacks. It'd be interesting to see how they thought the Season should end at that point in the story. I hope they don't actually have to end it so early.
Please reach an agreement soon, people! Pretty please? *puppy eyes*
If this all doesn't get resolved by the time all my shows run out of new episodes, I'm definitely keeping the television off (except to play videogames, of course ). "Reality" television in general is horrible, and American Idol is only (sometimes) good when the Top 10 are announced, and that takes forever.
I've started wondering what they'll do if the strike ends December 4. Will they keep going even though the alternate ending aired?

So in case you haven't heard, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) is on strike. They are striking, of course, for more money. They receive $.04 is residuals per DVD and they want that doubled, plus they want something residuals for shows aired on 'new media', such as iPod and online. The studios claim that the WGAs demands would actually harm new media growth... If the strike lasts for more than a few weeks, we are in for reality shows galore and re-runs. Most shows, like Heroes, will run out of new episodes sometime in December, and shows like Lost and 24 won't be airing next year like they were supposed to; obviously some shows like the late night shows are effected immediately. The last WGA strike was in '88 and lasted 5 months! Looks like I will finally be able to watch all the shows I have recorded on my DVR. [/youtube]
Edit: Merged with "Heroes Exclusive Finale News" by Obsidian. It's a good explanation of the situation at hand.
24's status is still questionable, I believe (due to their delays in shooting and re-writing parts of the script or whatever, I don't watch the show), but LOST is still likely to go on the air. Last I heard, they had most of this season's scripts written, if not all. They can shoot whatever's already been written.
Edit: Or not. I just found another article about the situation with LOST that debunks most of what I just said. I'm so confused.
Kiss and make up already so we can get new Heroes and stuff! Are the writers' demands really that unreasonable, or are the studios just being greedy?
Edit número dos: I just read that the contracts with both the Screen Actors Guild and Directors Guild of America expire in Summer 2008. If they decide to strike with the writers (let's hope it doesn't last that long!), TV as we know it could end for quite a while. Meh, now my brain hurts.
Edit numéro trois: The article that's confusing the stuffing out of me can be found here, if you're interested.
