Whoever it was definitely works for The Company. Back in the vault at Primatech, when Nathan was saying that he was going public, there's a camera filming Nathan, Peter and Matt. The camera is in the ventilation shaft. Whoever killed Nathan was watching that video.

So who do I think it was? Two guesses:

Originally I thought it was Arthur Petrelli. I could definitely see him being in hiding all of this time.

But then in the live chat, Breakdown asked where The Haitian has been all this time.

And thus, I'd argue that THE HAITIAN shot Nathan.

After all, The Haitian works for Angela.
And Angela was accepting of the fact that it "had to be done."

Thoughts?

I just rewatched the scene, and you can faintly see the back of the person's neck.
It's a white guy, most likely.

I'm going back to Arthur Petrelli as killer.

And Hatcher, I REALLY like that theory about HRG being the assassin!

What an irony there would be behind it: Claire's surrogate dad killed her bio dad...

To expand upon your theory, Hatcher, (I'm not sure if this is implied but) I think Angela could have been on the phone with Bob, who was the one that order HRG to kill Nathan. Bob probably called Angela (or vice versa).

For all we know, West could have been the shooter.
He, too, did not want Claire to reveal them to the public.

Did she ever tell West who her bio dad was an that he could fly too? The Company could have enlisted the help of West through HRG. After all, they both wanted Claire to be safe. Since Elle has been benched, and Mohinder nearly killed, HRG might reclaim his role as the 'bagger' and 'tagger' so long as Claire and the Bennets were kept safe. And West could be his 'new' partner.

Here's a question, did Matt mind control only the news reporters, or the whole world?

If it was the whole world, then I'd argue that whoever shot Nathan had an ability to counteract Matt's power, otherwise the killer probably wouldn't have shot if he was mind controlled as well.

Then again, it Matt just mind controlled the reporters, then the killer could have been a non-powered person.

Just some food for thought...

Two suggestions: You might want to move this to SPOILER section, as I bet we will start finding out spoilers about this subject later on -- OR, we can discuss those in a separate thread if you want... Can I start that one? Because I bet, this subject will take the significance of who shot J.R. Ewing from the 1980s!!! And Spoilers, will start flying across the Internet. Where should we post them then?

Anyway, back on track!

My first track was an invincible man, but when we saw someone walking away, and he was white, I thought of HRG. He might have had the Haitian help to suppress the abilities of Matt, Peter and Nathan at the podium.

What clinches it for me, is the whole set-up of him going to his family to tell them he's going back to work for the company to protect them. So, it has to be him.... I think.....

It might be somebody we haven't met, if it's not HRG.

Actually I believe it was Noah or HRG. I mean when I was looking at the screen it looked like Noah walking away. But it could also be possible that its someone we have never seen before. At this moment its all in the air.

Also, don't discount the fact that HRG, might still be trying to bring the company down from the inside.

Here's a theory:
I would not be surprised that Claire, upon finding her dad has been shot, finds West, and gets him to fly her to Odessa, Texas to help her get her "REAL" dad resurrected. In fact, HRG, might be counting on this scenario to happen, if he is the one that shot Nathan... Then this would spur Claire and the other "Heroes" to go into hiding instead of coming out. Then the Haitian contacts them. They form an underground resistance cell against the company.

Anyhow, how is that for wild?

i think it was future ____ (meaning peter or hiro) and vol III will have to do with...grr

lets just say it will hopefully be as awesomely planned as i think, ...and will have to do with present hiro and peter quite a bit, and sylar..wow

cant peter just heal him? with his own blood? knowing that he can heal as well as adam.

i think it sux they can "bring ppl back from the dead" rather than "bring people from the brink of death to perfect health"

Ya it was HRG for sure if the assassin was from all the characters we have seen and no one else.

I think peters will heal his bro with his blood... I think he will be all depressed and think and stuff and remember Adam and because he can absorb powers he my try to insert his blood. I think this will happen. Also it could also be Claire who cures him.
