It was very clear that the shooter was a white male with a navy blue baseball cap on. No, that is not the Haitian. Why would he just be standing there anyway?

erm... not the guy in the cap, the guy stood next to him with his chin up (like the haitain stands) wearing a cream suit (which I'm sure I've seen the haitain wear many a time). First frame of the images, to the right of the "shooter"
I just thought of something quite important... Matt was mind controlling the audience and forcing them to listen and report the conferance. Who but Peter, Murray or Matt would be immune to this mind control.... ergh!!

I don't think that is the case. What if the speaker showed up after Matt planted the suggestion to listen to Nathan in the heads of the reporters. Then he wouldn't be affected. Or its possible that there is another hero out there that is immune to Matt's powers...we know the Haitian is hardly effected by them, but we don't know how Peter or Maury would be effected by Matt as there is nothing to show that they are immune to the powers of another mind-bender (Matt was able to trap his father in his own nightmare while it seems Peter resisted Matt on shear strength of will).

i agree with both statements after watching the clip again. Matt walks into the room and says "it's done, they'll listen now" or something along those lines, so someone could have entered after him. But also, as I posted just recently, I took another look at the scene frame by frame and I think I've spotted the haitain there:

I know you didnt mean the guy we assume is the shooter because he walked away, but no, that looks NOTHING like the Haitian. Its just a guy who also happens to be black.
Now to me, the top of the head, the eye structure, the nose look very similar. The jaw line does look smaller on my image and the ears possibly higher. But then my picture is taken from a considerable distance from the character, and from a much higher angle. Also, the image has considerable lighting from the back whilst the normal photos are usually evenly lit. I'm afraid we're gonna have to agree to disagree here cause I'm quite happy to believe that the character there is the haitain. Also, this mysterious character only appears for a few frames and then disappears, which is quite odd. The assassin appears in all frames facing the crowd.
BTW: I breakdance and have a considerable ammount of black friends, I'd be rather concerned if I couldn't tell one black person from another... would make my social life rather confusing
I like your argument, Turbanator, and it could definitely have been The Haitian if HRG was the shooter. The Haitian could have been standing there protecting HRG by blocking Peter & Matt's powers. You would think that whoever shot Nathan would be thinking to himself, "Okay, I'm gonna shoot now. 3 bullets right through the chest. I gotta time this perfectly," at which point Matt would have read that person's mind. Perhaps The Haitian was there blocking those abilities.
