I always assumed from the begining that HRG killed Mohinder's father, the scene with Mohinder and HRG in the cab in the pilot seemed to make you think that. (I loved the way Mohinder "stunt parked" the cab and then ran as fast as he could.)

Based on who we know HRG to be now, it doesn't seem likely to me that he killed Papa Suresh. Not his methods, not his way.

So who killed Papa Suresh, Mohinder's father?

The graphic novel suggest that Uluru might have had something to do with it, but to understand a murder, we must first know why it was committed.

Our victim did not appear to have any money or assets worthy of stealing, so I believe we can rule out greed as a motive.

Neither did he appear to be involved with an amorous partner (maybe Eden, but we see where her loyalty resides), so I believe we can rule out jealousy and revenge.

That leaves us with the conclusion that Papa Suresh knew something that someone did not want discovered. Next, we speculate as to who that might be. Clearly HRG has things to hide. Maybe Papa discovered how to control the evolution of powers. Maybe he got too close to discovering HRG's secrets or Sylar's secrets. Eden appears to have been placed near him to keep an eye on him. Maybe she has an alter personality like Niki and she killed him after being ordered to do so. However, if HRG was worried about what Papa knew, he could simply have his friend "erase" that memory. That really only leaves us with Sylar as a good suspect, or the fact that we need more information.

I am certain that it has something to do with the discovery of power manipulation. I think this is an underlying theme throughout.

The urn with his "alleged" ashes has been mentioned several times. I'm not sure if he got to see the body though....

I don't think it was HRG. Method, personality, and motive don't make sense. The motive because clearly HRG wants Mohinder to continue his father's research. You can argue that he just wanted someone new, who didn't know everything to start the research again, but I think thats a big if.

I don't really think its Sylar either. Sylar's methods are more outright. He doesn't make them appear to be accidents. By the way the FBI seems to be tracking him, it appears he marks his kills with a certain violent style. We can't really say anything about his motives, not enough is known.

If it wasn't either of them, though, that gets rid of any "bad guy" suspects related to him. The only other ones are Linderman and Niki, both of whom I assume have no connection with Papa Smurf. So either I'm wrong, we haven't met the person, or it was an actual accident. I think the last option is unlikely, and would really mess with the audience. Then again, it could have a nice theme to it. Destiny. It was his time to go, and it was a way for the fates to bring Mohinder to America where he was needed.

This is all assuming he is actually dead. I think he is. He's served his role (I believe), so any conspiracy that he's still alive is unnecessary to the plot as of right now.

I'm telling you...there is a clue in his father's ashes. And I thought that Mohinder had seen his father? something like he had to identify a few unknown bodied before he saw his dad. But I might be thinking of another show completely

Look at the graphic novel...something burst from the cab, everything is bent outwards...seems pretty straight forward...no burn marks, no chemical burns so not an explosion...tk breaking loose?
