I think radioactive man is killed (possibly shot) and explodes. He said that he didnt know what would happen if he did get killed. Too bad that the show is not set in the same time as now. Wasn't the date on the paper Nov. 8 when Hiro saw the explosion?
But, as I said when this came up before, how does that fit with the news report about the train crash that mentioned the Nuclear Regulatory Commission?
I think it's definitely a possibility that Ted is the nuke, but seeing as there also seems to be possible evidence of an actual nuclear device floating around that came off the train, I'd say it's far from definite that it's Ted.

I agree that Ted is a Red Herring. There's more to the nuke than we know. Either that or it is Ted, and the train wreck was just a throwback to the original villian,
who was supposed to be a super-powered terrorist.
They dropped that idea and went with the Sylar concept instead, thank goodness.
I think the Nuclear Reg Comm would have great interest in Ted and no real explanation for what was happening. Who knows what kind of story they might try to sell to the public.
I think the fact that Ted's radiation is so clearly given to us is more evidence that he isn't the nuke than evidence he is. Think about it. Every other time something has seemed to be so clearly stated, it's been overturned. In the first episode we're led to be convinced that Peter's power is flight, but it turns out not to be. We're led to believe that HRG is a bad guy, and it turns out he's not really a bad guy (though still not a good guy) and certainly isn't the antagonist he's been foreshadowed to be. Now we're spoon-fed a mentally unstable radiation guy and naturally assume he's the nuke.
But here's a theory,
what if he's actually the means of stopping the nuke? What if he's meant to learn not just how to emit radiation, but supress it as well, supress it enough that he can actually stop a critical mass of radioactive material from developing a chain reaction and keep a nuclear bomb from going off?
I'm up for the idea that it was just an explosion of some reactor. But with a deeper meaning it probably has something to do with something else...example...Ted
Here's a crackpot theory (Note: I do NOT agree with this theory, but here it is anyways:)
Peter is the Nuke. He gets too close to Ted, and takes his powers. But he cannot control it and goes nuclear. Now, Peter and Claire could become friends, and acts as an anchor for Peter, preventing him from losing control of his powers. If she isn't there, he goes crazy and destroys the world.
On the other hand, I think that it is a bomb, and Sylar will survive 'cause he has Claire's and Ted's powers.
We have a slight time paradox here that doesn't involve Hiro. In "Genesis", Nathan says he has 10 days to make up 8 points. The nuke goes off the day after the election. So it goes off in 11 days right? Well, Claire says it is three weeks to Homecoming. So that is 21 days. Homecoming has happened. The election has not. And the nuke has not either.
We are on flex time in regards to the election.
I think they would have used the train if it happened earlier, but since it was so many episodes ago there isn't the same payoff for pulling a thread that far back. Also, note that the television announcer did not say that something was missing and it could be construed as if the NRC would need to update them in case of radiological hazard.
NBC said there would be no terrorists involved futhermore in episode 9 the car they had Ted in was exploded and think abnout this what if peter gets close to him and doesnt realize what he is doing and expoldes
In Heroes so far, they do not seem to be fighting criminals, except for minor help here and there. The stakes seem bigger and they have so far faced off against (with who we have been introduced to) only people who are involved in the Hero world. It is hard to pinpoint Villians besides Sylar, but Villians or true Heroes, they all seem to be connected to people with abilities. Terrorists (normal definition) would fall outside that pattern.
what if, by a long stretch, threre was a nuke in nyc. all, or some of, the heros go to stop it and they are succesful, but then dl brings mich to the nuke and some how micahs repairing like power fixes the nuke and bye bye nyc.
i know extremely unlikely but just thought i would throw it out there
