| I read it. I'm thinking the dragon is somehow the father of all of the heroes, though. Strange theory, I sort of got it from my other post regarding the number 9, the dragon, the emporer, having nine children each with nine children, etc. etc. I don't know, i may be reading way too much into it. but i think 9, the dragon, and the heroes' powers are all tied together in some way, otherwise why would they all be so important? The dragon could also be the emporer, though, or at least some sort of king. |

But it's not the emperor's daughter that's in love with Kensei.
Not unless the Emperor also happens to be a blacksmith, and is known as "The Blacksmith", since she was referred to as "The Blacksmith's Daughter" by Hiro several times. The Blacksmith is even the one that forged Kensei's sword as payment for him defending their village, which he didn't do originally. That's a mighty humble Emperor. |

Hiro told Kensei something like he was supposed to fall in love with the swordsmith's daughter and make her his princess.
I have a feeling that they started out with "princess" when they mentioned her in Season 1, but when they started working out the actual story for Season 2, they would rather she be the swordsmith's daughter.
I have seen the word "princess" used for a daimyo's (or other lord's) daughter in some fairy tales, so I didn't take it to mean Kensei necessarily fell in love with the Emperor's daughter. I think that's just a translation thing.
I've thought Hiro might be the dragon of Kiso Mountain - not literally, but that he would have the same role of teaching or guiding Kensei. |

Like Action, the whole princess thing has been confusing me too. She's definitely the blacksmith's daughter, but doesn't Hiro mention the word "princess" when talking to Kensei? I could have sworn he did...
Or am I imagining that? ... hmmm... |

| I think she's referred to as a princess simply because of the legend itself. What legend doesn't have a hero rescuing a princess and riding off with her to live happily ever after? (Just be glad they didn't make Takezo an Italian plumber.) I think Payquage is right though. She's supposed to become Takezo's princess. |

PK and Action,
If you watch the Yamagato Fellowship videos, it's obvious that Yaeko (the swordsmith's daughter) IS the Princess....
As much, as that might not make sense. |

I think this is obvious now, but Hiro is the dragon.
The dragon teaches Kensei (Hiro taught Kensei)
The dragon demands Kensei's Love (Hero falls in love with Swordsmith's Daughter)
Kensei cuts out his heart (Kensei becomes cruel/heartless) |

Hiro is the dragon.
1. He taught Kensei to become a Hiro (much as the dragon taught Kensei the sword in the legend).
2. Hiro effectively takes the princess from Kensei, or at least Kensei views Hiro as trying to take her from him (much as the dragon came for the princess in the story).
3. They have a final confrontation and Kensei chooses to "die" rather than accept Hiro's transgression (much as Kensei choosing to stab himself in the heart because of the dragon's demands).
4. This all happens at Kiso Mountain.
Seems pretty cut and dry to me. Yeah, it's just an interpretation, but I'd say it's a pretty good one.
Adam Monroe survives the explosion and lives into the future because of his power. He doesn't travel back with Hiro. Instead, he just doesn't die. |

| I agree that Hiro is the Dragon. Also, it's aparently Kensai's version of the story that gets passed down since he's the only one still there, and I could definitely see him putting that spin on things. Hiro making him rip his heart out, etc. etc. |
