I decided to start a new thread with this theory I put on worse than the boogieman:
I think WTTBM somehow ties into the virus. Molly sees him and she has the active virus. I think the virus is hosted by all of the heroes, but contact with worse than the boogieman makes the virus active. The other heroes have the virus, but it is in remission. I think this virus is actually what gives them their powers, but it will eventually kill them if they are contacted in any way (mentally or physically) by worse than the boogieman. Therefore, I think Matt now has the active virus too, because he contacted worse than the boogieman through Molly's mind. Maya, on the other hand, I thinks spreads the virus. Those who cannot host it are killed. Those who can host it display amazing powers until worse than the boogie man finds them and makes the virus active. Maya's brother has a power and is a host, which is why he doesn't die when near Molly. I don't think worse than the boogieman is anyone we've seen yet, but I do think he is involved with the virus, because all of the spoilers I've read say the virus plays a prominent part in the second season.
This is to clarify my theroy:
Maya: spreads the virus
Suresh: cure for the virus (may also erase the hero's power)
WTTBM: makes innactive virus active (out of remission)
Molly: has active virus
Matt: may also have active virus if my theory is correct
All other heroes: hosts to the virus which is in remission, virus causes them to have powers
normal humans: die when they contract the virus, cannot host
I agree. For one, Maya's virus has been targeting all people, special or not. Though I see it as a set up. With "Bob" telling Mohinder, "Can you imagine if th is virus spread to the general public?". Hence my idea (and apparently Herc's, as well) that Maya and Alejandro have negating auras of disease/cure. Mohinder's blood is the cure to Shanti's disease. Likewise, Alejandro is most likely the cure to Maya's.
pfft, i dont think wttb has anything to do with the shanti virus
what'd be cool is if....maya's virus spreading ONLY WORKS ON REGULAR HUMANS (which we have NO idea yet because they've yet to run into other specials yet) now if thats the case...
molly can find anyone she thinks of BUT they cant tell her "locate every special in the world" because she has to SPECIFICALLY think of someone to locate them...
now...imagine the company gets ahold of maya and alejandro...they somehow get them to work for them/blackmail (some BS) anyway... the company can get them in a HUGGGE populated area and just be like "k....start poisoning everyone" only regular humans get effected, fall ill to the ground etc.... specials are left standing, the company now knows who have abilities..then they can simply tell alejandro "ok, we know who's special now...heal the regular humans" alejandro heals the humans/takes the virus away whatever... now THAT would work for me
that and the molly walker virus work the exact opposite, they can just infect everyone with the virus...humans arent affected, specials that are...are given the antidote (but in doing so, they find out who has an ability)
does any of this make sense? basically theres 2 viruses....1 that affects specials, 1 that affects humans only.....theres a "cure" to both already...and all someone would have to do is affect a large group to see who has an ability and who doesnt...
(wow, dibs on this theory)
ledlevee, as of right now u have 35 posts....and 99% of them are the same thing over and over...re-lax =]
I (we) understand what you mean/are trying to explain ...that the VIRUS GAVE THEM THEIR POWER we gotcha, and its "negative side effects" or what have you are lying dormant until "in touch" with the boogie man right?
right right, I guess I didn't think I was explaining myself clearly enough because it seems like people thought I was saying something different, but I guess I was misunderstanding their posts.
My point has always been that Maya has something that definitely kills humans (whether special or not)and Alejandro can counteract it.
Mohinder carries the cure to Shanti's virus within him.
Shanti's blood is what led professor Shuresh to start his research.
We already know that Mohinder can cure Metas/Specials with his blood. But his blood DOES NOT remove their abilities -- it makes them better, it makes them able to live. REMEMBER THAT.
We already know for a fact surresh doesn't take powers away, he infused molly and the EMP guy he found in the hospital (from the one shot graphic novel)

I see Alejandroas casting an aura that would negate Maya's power to kill while she's in distress and crying, thereby causing the surrounding people not to die and have tears of blood down thier face. If he's not around, usually she's in distress for some reason (they seem to be insperable siblings by thier natural wanting to be close to each other) and therefore killing X number of people within Y area.
I bet she couldn’t kill Claire (or Peter). The dead people around Maya looked like they had haemorrhaged - and our little super-healers would probably survive this.
Could make for an interesting plot point later if they kill off/snatch away Alejandro..
Didn't Tim Kring comment about duplicate powers at one point? We've seen it with flying already. Couldn't Alejandro's ability simply be the same as the Haitian's and not specific to his sisters ability?
Also, in the interest of brainstorming, do we know for sure Maya's ability involves a virus? Would emitting microwaves (as a guess) or something cause bleeding from the eyes and death without other outward signs?
