Oh God, just six? I'm a very avid reader so this is gonna be hard.
Ok, no particular order here:

HP series
Sabriel/Lireal/Abhorsen trilogy - Garth Nix
Keys to the Kingdom series - Garth Nix (can you tell I'm a fan?)
Cirque du Freak series - Darren Shan
Artemis Fowl series - Eoin Colfer
Eragon series - Chris Paolini

Can you tell I like series'? lol

Well, I'm an avid reader, so I think I'm going to forego adding series in here, and just put down some of my foavrite novels.

1. I'd have to say that my favorite novel of all time to read has to be Ender's Game. Quite the fascinating read, and well put together!

2. The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury was another great read for me. I loved how it brought out my Sci-Fi imagination!

3. The Left Hand Of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin. Now this was a great book for the early fantasy readers!

4. I, Robot by Issac Asimov. I read this like seven times well before the movie ever thought to come out. I think the movie did the book some justice, but there was so much that was left untouched, that you really need to read the book to understand Mr. Asimov's brilliance!

5. The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. Not as interesting as the Chronicles of Narnia, but they are quite interesting, and make for some interesting theological debates.

6. Vector Prime by R.A.Salvatore. After all, who else could be creditied with killing off Chewbacca?

Hope these peak your curiosity!

So many books, so little time -- I can't believe, I missed this topic in the first go around.

You want me to name just six books? Man, that's going to be hard. Ok, here goes, I am going to be fair, and break it up between fantasy and Sci-fi, but I reserve the right to come back and add some other books as well:

1) The Lord of the Rings (of course)
2) Tigana -- Guy Gavriel Kay
3) Mordant's Need (The Mirror of Her Dreams and A Man Rides Through) -- Stephen R. Donalson
4) A Fire Upon the Deep -- Vernon Vinge
5) The Boat of a Million Years -- Poul Anderson
6) Genesis Quest and Second Genesis -- Donald Moffitt

I love Book # 2.

As for Book # 3 (or the two book series there), I was fairly young when I read them, and that could account for my reaction to them. Back in those days, I used to jot down some thoughts on every book I finished, and I remember thinking how great that series was. I wonder if a re-reading is in order.

I also love the Foundation Series (By Asimov). I have lend that out, and it has not been returned! And all 7 of the Harry Potter books! With #7 actually having made me cry!
