Just wanted some thoughts on how everyone feels about the direction this show could go wrong. (Hopefully someone is reading the responses)
I'm hoping there won't be numerous villains solely battling the heroes and humankind. The villains should be battling the heroes, humankind, and most importantly each other.
i think anything with aliens, or something on a cosmic level like silver surfer would be a bad direction to go. i hope they keep the series on earth, just so the plot lines don't get too farfetched.
plus, the writers may end up writing themselves into a corner with Hiros time travelling ability. theres gonna be lotta splainin' to do, and if theyh make it too complicated, some heads may implode.
Correct, there is so much explaining to do about Hiro's time travel. What happens if they kill off characters to allow more time for Hiro (or others) stories to develop. Its early but I wouldn't like that either
Well remember...shows like Buffy and Angel seemed VERY linear at the beginning but then things started to develope a bit more. If all else fails for teh writers of Heroes....go to Joss Whedon
Yea I would have thrown in Firefly but there were a bunch of directions that show could have gone in =( too bad it was cancelled. Serenity was hella good though
Firefly was the ultimate show, it's funny 'cuz earlier today i was thinking about how the ensemble cast in Heroes is kinda comparable to the ensemble cast of Firefly and that that seems to be happening more and more in TV now. Guess poor Joss was just a couple years ahead of his time
Yes, but you all forget that he's already in the middle of writing a superhero script. Something about magic lassos, and bulletproof bracelets. And bondage, I hear.
I think the worst route they could go is to have Sylar start saying "Beauty is a curse on the world!"
I think that if they go the route of all this time traveling stuff that some people post in the theories thread they'll lose a good number of viewers. Time travel just makes things too complicated and the mass majority of America likes things plain and straightforward (although I don't think most of the people here don't)
There's two types of time-travel theories. One type is that when someone goes back in time and changes something, and then returns to the present and the present time is different due to the change (ie. Back to the Future). The other type is that when someone goes back in time and changes something, and then returns to the present and the present time stays the same because the change has already occurred in the past; it was destined to happen (ie. Billy and Ted's Excellent Adventure).
I'm still wondering which path the show will take. Lets just know it doesn't go both pathes (ie. The Lake House) because that would absolutely make no sense.
One thing that doesn't make sense is that the painter paints the future. One thing he creates is the comic book. When Hiro goes to New York (5 weeks into the future), he reads the comic book and brings it back with him to the present, meaning that it is happening in the present; that is the reason why in the comic book, it shows Hiro going into the future and reading the comic book (which could be considered a paradox). That means the comic book was part of history. Hiro was meant to read the comic book because if he never did, Hiro would have never done what was in the comic book.
But on to the thing that doesn't make sense... Since the comic book PERFECTLY predicted what happens to Hiro, wouldn't the painting of the New York explosion perfectly predict what happens? Since the painter paints the explosion, that means it will actually happen and the heroes have no chance to prevent it. (An example that proves this is the painting of the heroes finding the cheerleader. That means the heroes do encounter the cheerleader. So no matter what happens, they will find the cheerleader.)
But on to the thing that doesn't make sense... Since the comic book PERFECTLY predicted what happens to Hiro, wouldn't the painting of the New York explosion perfectly predict what happens?
1) Get canceled.
2) Introduce a lot of heroes so we have a whole universe of bit players to keep track of. Please, maybe two or three new ones per season, no more. Optionally, add a few that appear in one or two episodes per season (like Q in Star Trek: The Next Generation).
3) Adopt a 30-minute format.
4) Introduce stupid heroes like talking dogs.
5) Save the world every episode.
