Hey ObsidianF, both you and Ana are doing pretty good. The only reason I got so many posts, is because I am currently unemployed.
I am about to start a new job, in two weeks. Guess what? My posts will drop way down!
So folks like you and Ana can catch-up.
And Ana, there is nothing wrong with your English or your posts! I have been trying to learn Spanish in like forever, so bravo for trying to do this in English. As for doing Off Topic subjects -- we all have to do that, until the new season starts in September.
Up to what Episode have you seen in Argentina?
Also, what should I use for my Avatar for my 1000 post?
Some of us are still subscribed to those threads, and would love to still discuss those episodes with someone who just watched them!!! So feel free to read through those threads and add your thoughts. We regularly look at new posts (even in old threads) because it stimulates the conversation.
Heh. Great job Herc! I have to admit, that the only reason I'm at the post mark I have is because I do all of my posting at work (don't tell my boss!)
If I was unemployed, I'd have to say that my postings wouldn't be nearly as many, since I'd be finding quite a bit more stuff to do. But while I'm stuck at a computer terminal for nearly 10 hours a day, I tend to try and find some creative things to do besides crunch numbers and enter data all day..
Thank you everyone for the well wishes. They are appreciated.
To your question, OF, what will I do -- I will probably slow down now....
Oh, and what is my new job? Well, it's supposed to be "Network Administrator / IT Manager / CIO" for a small manufacturing company. I will actually BE the IT department for them. In addition, I will wear many other hats. Honestly, I don't even know that I will have ANY time to post, except on weekends, if I take this job... (there is a chance I might not)....
I am also pursuing an opportunity in NYC. That's where my family is currently, and I am really thinking hard about this.
A lot of responsibility and authority VS. being very close to my family. Tough choice.
Being the only IT guy for a manufacturing company? Heck, I'm actually doing seven jobs here at my one job.. I'm the department head for the IT here at my distribution center, I oversee the network, I also monitor and upgrade the LAN here. I'm a member of the Quality Control department, currently I'm the senior person in this department as well, thus I have to run the reports and sign the legal documents for the company in this area as well. I do a weekly inventory of the entire building once a month, usually on a Saturday when I can get in here and count boxes for 10 or so hours.. I'm the shipping and receiving control, so I schedule pickup and dropoff of our trailers. Then I also schedule our inter-center transportation. So I coordinate the shipments going between the other distribution centers around the US!
Aside from that, I really don't do much, so I have plenty of time in between responses from corporate headquarters and national DC communications to be able to play around from time to time. Honestly? Right now I'm making a new applicant wait for his secondary interview so I can at least post this note! So I can actually feel your pain Herc. I really can!..
This is why I'm going into medicine. I just deal with patients and papers (and insurance companies who don't want to pay up and government audits and lawsuits and..........). I love computers/techie stuff, but I don't think I could handle having a job like yours. Kudos to both of you!
And Herc, I hope your new job goes well and I'll miss you around here! You better come back when the show starts up again. Or else.
That is a tough one. I could never stand the sight of blood.
Although, at one time I was certified ALMOST to the level of an EMT, but I let that lapse. I've thought about becoming a volunteer EMT/Firefighter, cause I want to give something back to some of the places where I've lived. Those are tough jobs. EMTs, Firefighters and Cops. They don't have easy jobs. And doctors, I don't envy, because of the amount of school you have to go through. Anyway... I've gone way, off topic, sorry!
But thanks for all the wishes. Hopefully, SOON, we'll be welcoming somebody else to the 1,000 post club on this thread!!!!! Maybe you ObsidianFlame!!! And don't worry. I'll stay active at night/weekends, as much as I can.
Heck, if it weren't for us 'techie' types, the docs would never be able to keep up with the rising demands put on them for billing purposes and keeping up to date on the latest medical proceedures! After all, before I got the wonderful job I'm in today, I was a network admin for a medical billing company!
It's been a lot of fun. Not that I plan to stop anytime soon, even though I've slowed down considerably. I've started watching anime, and, well, it probably wasn't a good idea. Once I develop an interest in something, I tend to spend way too much time at it.
