When we find Peter in the back of a cargo box, he does not know who he is and he is wearing a necklace with the symbol on it. It would appear that the Haitian has mindwiped Peter (after all who would want to remember the hell of exploding over NYC) and gave his necklace to him. Additionally, maybe the Haitian was trying to help Peter forget the terrible power he had gained from ted Sprague. Thoughts?
But hmm... I don't know if Peter could "forget" an ability. I get the feeling that it's more of a physical thing for a mimic than a psychological thing, which means that induced radioactivity could still be somewhere within Peter.
But I do love the Haitian theory, especially seeing that Peter has the necklace

I figured it might be part of the reason that the Haitian wiped his mind. Maybe the Haitian was just hoping to eliminate the memory that triggers that power. Remember when Peter was working with Claude, it was the memory of Claire that allowed him to heal.

Physical for a mimic maybe, but for an Empath? Its all in the head!
I disagree, I think peter mindwiped himself using the haitions ability. Maybe that power malfunctioned just like the radiation power did. Or even better, maybe he did it intentionally because he thought he killed nathan.

That's a pretty cool thought... I like it...
...however, if it was the Haitian, it would explain how Peter has the same necklace around his neck... hmmm
PopKorn, I like your theory about who killed Kaito, but I'm not ready to go with that yet. (Actually, I'm going to wait until next week to find out if Kaito's really dead, but probably he is.) It does remind me of the theory that Peter or another version of Peter was Sylar (before we knew who Sylar was).
My first thought was that Claude came to kill Kaito, but that makes absolutely no sense. Claude could have remained invisible if he didn't want to be seen, instead of wearing a big hooded sweatshirt. For now, I'll go with WTTB.
I agree with the idea that the Haitian caused Peter's memory loss - the necklace is a big hint. I think he left it with Peter as a clue to help him find his way home. But that suggests that either the Haitian had some reason to want Peter to end up in Ireland, or that was something he didn't have control over. Otherwise, he could have just put Peter on the bus back to NYC from wherever. (Which makes me wonder, how did the Haitian find him? Might he have visited Molly? To keep that secret, he would only have to erase her memory of the visit.) I don't think the Haitian works only for Angela. He's kind of spooky and probably has his own agenda.
The first time Peter used telekinesis, he wasn't thinking of Sylar. In spite of what he said about thinking about Claire the first time he regenerated, I don't think he has to remember the person he got the power from. It looks like he doesn't even need to know he has a particular power. Peter might still have everything he had before and then some - he just gets to discover his power all over again.
But why doesn't Angela or Nathan know that Peter is alive? I thought Haitian and Angela worked together? Great theory though!
Nathan has the impression that Peter's alive.
Angela, as I've said before, is probably just acting as though he's dead. Angela and the Haitian clearly have the same agenda, imo. There's more as well. We can judge, from the graphic novels, that the company is still tracking specials, even without Molly. As we now know, Angela is/was a part of the company, and probably shares some of those resources. Tracking Peter down after Nathan let go of him, she had the Haitian erase his memory and, further more, hired a new helper from the company in the form of Elle. That's how Peter got his electric ability. He was [barely] awake when she was chaining him up, and remembered her as the last person he saw when the irish mobsters arrived. This triggered her ability when he defended himself.
I agree that Angela acting like Peter is dead when she really had the Haitian mind wipe him sounds exactly like her. When Kaito takes that shot at her about how he helped Hiro and asks her what she did for her son, she was offended rather than going into an Angela-like monologue about Linderman's vision, the greater good, what needed to be done, blah blah blah... It indicated to me that, in her mind at least, she has helped Peter.
On the other hand, Peter himself asking the Haitian to do it sounds exactly like the melodramatic Peter we've seen. It would seem fitting that he did this out of guilt for believing he killed Nathan while at the same time Nathan is now an alcoholic carrying his own guilt over believing Peter is dead.
The whole being chained up in a box part baffles me either way though. If either of these cases is true, why not just put him (or ask to be put) in a location where he would effectively be a hermit and be unlikely to regain his memory or redevelop his powers?
I think either the hatian did it....or some other party we haven't met yet. Or maybe peter had been thinking of claire before he exploded, activating the power before he exploded, allowing him to reform after a while, but once he reforms his memory is gone. Anyways, I think that the necklace is not the hatian's, but rather, the company or group of people who caught him, OR essentially the same answer but the Hatian is working for that company. Also.....I have a feeling we MAY get a true meaning for this damn helix symbol, its showing up EVERYWHERE now.
And also, was anyone else as confused as me when he used his TK? Did the lightning REALLY just happen to strike at the exact moment he sent a TK wave out? Cuz we've never seen TK manifest itself visually. And it sure as hell did last night. Not only did we see the ripple effect from the wave itself it seemed as though in the middle there was a blue orb, or blue tint to the whole attack. reminded me of electricity. I don't know, i watched it again, and it's definitely not TK like we've seen before.
I don't think it's electricity Alucard. I think it's another form of Ted's ability, much akin to the electromagnetic discharge. After all, EMP can give a concussive blast if timed right, and give that electrical look to it as well.
I'd have to say that Peter being a bit of an Amnesiac just leaves me cold. First, he was fumbling all around in episode 1 trying to find his abilities, and save someone he'd never met. Then he tried to stop two others before nearly killing himself and half of NYC in the process.
Now? He's not sure where he is, WHO he is, or what he can do. He just knows how to survive, and that he's able to do things that most 'normal' folks can't.
Why? Why? Why? Can we make him any more of a bumbling idiot than before? Or is he going to lose the humanity he had in season 1, and become the ruthless powermonger that his mother wanted him to always be? She'd always said that he was too soft to be a good hero. Maybe being in the situations he's going to be thrown into will create the hardened person that Angela was always looking for, even if she never lives to see it!
