Just coming in to clarify! YES! Peter has all of Sylar powers. All of the ones we have seen him use so far, and any ones we haven't. This is waaaaaaaaaaaaay old news. I think I must have typed the next line a million times in the past couple months. There was an interview with all the writers and the creators in which it was stated that Peter has all of Sylar's powers and NOT just TK.
I remember that. He has all of Sylar's powers, and also the powers of everyone who was at Kirby Plaza. Which should be answer enough of how he got DL's power, IMHO, unless they give us another explanation in episode 8.
yea peter definately has all of sylar's abilities. as to him getting dl's power im sure it was at his meltdown at kirby plaza. i dont think he was walking around long after he exploded. the world still thinks he is dead. and since he got dl's ability, that means he probably got molly and micah's abililties as well right?
Doesn't technopathy desribe someone who's afraid of technology, instead of being able to interact and comminucate with it??
Or am I completely off base here...
It's like Slippy and I were talking about last week on an IM..
Meredith doesn't have Pyrokenesis, but instead has Pyrogenesis.
Pyrokenesis is by definition someone who can manipulate fire, but doesn't have the ability to actually create the flame. Pyrogenesis is being able to create fire, but also control it, since in order to create something, you need to be able to control it as well.
Same thing with Peter and Elle's ability for Electricity. It's not Electrokenesis, as it's Electrogenesis.. The ability to not only create electric fields, but to manipulate them as well..
Same for Cryogenesis and Cryokenesis, and others of this sort. If they can create it, without needing a source to feed off of, then it's by definition a -genesis type of ability. If they are using something else to crate the effect, like a power line, or the water sprayer from a faucet, then it's a -kenesis type of ability.
I know, I know, I'm picking at threads here, but if we're going to get more in-depth into these abilities, then we should be labelling them more correctly as well
That does make sense, Jorm - but I did a few searches, and unfortunately there's no such words as "cryogenesis" or "pyrogenesis." While you may be right about the specifics of the word meanings, in the comic book universe, characters who have been able to create fire, and characters who can only manipulate fire, have both been referred to as possessing pyrokinesis, and the same for ice.
Hmm, I've seen episode 2 now (hadn't been able to watch it earlier, slow download). I notice that with the scene of Peter's beating, they changed a couple of clips over from the preview reel we've all been watching, On some of the preview reel his expressions were a little more stubborn (which is what I mentioned earlier here). For example, there was a close up shot on the preview where he turned his face away scowling when he said he didnt take anything. That shot has been replaced with one of him looking terrified. It's only a small difference to the scene, but it gives a totally different feel. He no longer looks stubborn - just plain scared.
So I don't think it's an act anymore. I saw a lot of 'old Peter' in episode two actually. He's still way to kind and gentle with people who are blatantly shi**ing on him.
Yer, the lack of the necklace confirms it for me - the Haitian wiped Peter. But I don't see why his memory wouldn't grow back with his regenerative powers =/ And for the record, I think Claire's Daddy had the Haitian do it.
I don't think HRG had the Hatian wipe Peter's mind. The hatian works for angela, and only helped HRG so far outside of the company to protect claire, and even so, that was only because he was working for Angela. If anyone that we know NOW made him do it, it's her.
And yeah, I understand the whole not being able to CREATE fire thing for Pyrokinesis, however, there are many different universes which utilize this power as they see fit, and heroes just happens to want them to be able to create it. case closed.
Hum. Well, there _could_ be a case for Noah Bennet to want to help Peter out.
Nathan and Peter are found after the explosion. Nathan pretty much unharmed, Peter reeling, but still unable to control his abilities.
Noah, knowing the powers and abilities he's been tracking, has The Haitian mindwipe him, and then seal him away in a shipping container under false information. The reason? To get him away from powers here in the states who would use Peter up before he ever had a chance to get to his "Maximum Potential".
Thus, Noah could be one who's used The Haitian, much like he's using Mohinder, to subvert the Company, and gain an upper hand. If this is the case, then Noah is playing quite a long game, and should be looked at quite a bit closer than we first thought. This kind of move is indicative of a master player in politics and shouldn't be underestimated...
As far as the genesis, kenesis thing...maybe, just maybe, that fire, ice, etc...actually run through their veins and so they don't create it, they just control that which they possess internally....kind of arguing over symantics...but I like it
I completely love the idea that HRG had The Haitian mindwipe Peter. Peter was the one that wanted to keep Claire in NYC. HRG probably thought that should Peter survive the explosion, he would want to have Claire near and around him in case he ever went nuclear again. That is not idea for HRG at all, so to keep his family safe, he had The Haitian mindwipe Peter. For HRG, it's all about two things:
(1) Protecting his family
(2) Taking down The Company
By the way... how much do you wanna bet that The Haitian voluntarily got the virus upon HRG's request, knowing that The Company would find Mohinder and hire him to cure the Haitian. HRG's ultimate goal was to get The Company to hire Mohinder so he could infiltrate and break it down from the inside, and what better way to do that than to have Mohinder unknowingly cure someone who's on HRG's side as well.
