So what are you saying, I guess I missed it. That peter must be able to break through the hatian's powers? Hiro had no powers to use when he went there regardless of what the hatian can block because we KNOW he can block Hiro's power. So he went there to fight regardless of powers.And I believe Peter is a little more skilled than your average person with or without powers from his fighting experiences that we KNOW he had because he "hasn't had a good fight in years." also, if they were so sure that they could get in. Why would Hiro even ask Peter if he could stop time if they knew they could get in? I have a feeling, that at SOME POINT, in the 5 years we don't know about, that peter came into close proximity of the hatian. not a fact, but a thought. Now, if he can gain the hatian's powers...There would have been no problem whatsoever. He could just use the hatian's powers against him. And Hiro could just teleport in and out with himself. I think the problem was that the hatian was blocking their powers and they had no way to break through. The hatian was killed. remember matt saying "the hatian is down"? That was his only protection against powers.

My thoughts are that Future Peter just took a hold of Future Hiro and Present Ando and made them invisible with him.

I think they were still in the elevator - they just couldn't be seen. Good thing Matt didn't shoot upon the opening of the doors.

Keep in mind that the Haitian & HRG had to use thermal goggles to see an invisible Peter and Claude on the Deveaux rooftop, thus the Haitian's power couldn't block invisibility, which means the explanation I posted above is quite possible.

That's very true. However, Claude used to freakin work for the company. Seemed like he was always on the lookout for them to catch him. If there was any power negation going on, I have a feeling Claude would know it, and react immediately. He was working there before HRG, he knows the ins and outs, everything about it. How would they have known if claude was there if they didn't use heat vision goggles? The hatian would have had to negate his powers, which would mean peter wouldn't have been able to use any powers, which would have alerted claude and peter which would mean, get the hell out of there. I mean it could go either way, but you see what I mean? There's no concrete evidence saying what the hatian can and can't block. He blocks mental powers, but was allowing matt to use his as he was interrogating Hiro. And why would they even show Hiro visible in the elevator if that was the case?

I was going to object to PK's theory of them being invisible on the elevator because Matt specifically says that the Haitian would stop their powers. Then this thread smacked me in the face and it occurred to me that, if, five years in the future, Peter had the Haitian's power from when he was mindwiped, he would be able to equally negate the Haitian's power around him, Hiro, and Ando, allowing them to move through unseen.

Gosh! Some very interesting arguments!

Parkman did seem pretty sure that they were safe with the Hait... dammit, I'm gonna name him - I'm calling him Fred! Maybe Fred's powers grew stronger in the five years - or maybe there are certain rules to what he can and cannot block.

For example, maybe Fred can only block abilities which 'project' (fireballs, telekenesis, illusions) or 'reach' (mind reading, mind control, time travel).

This might explain why personal 'auric' abilities like invisibility and flight - which we witnessed on the roof - were still possible. These unblockable 'auric' abilities might also include things like healing, superstrength, superspeed, etc.

If this assumption was correct, Peter's sponge ability (which 'reaches') would be turned off, as would his TK, timetravel, fire/electricity. He would still have Nicky's superstrength and Claire's healing, plus any other personal 'auric' abilities he'd aquired on his journey.

I thought only Hiro went into the elevator.

I never did understand what they did to get up there. I think the writers just kinda left it out because they dont know either.

Yah, I totally agree with you action. I think they were just like, these guys are so tight, we'll let the audience decide how they'd tackle the situation. That whole scene would have cost so much money if they wanted to show all the fighting. So, hipefully s2 will give us ONE battle.

well in FYG in the beginning hiro said that the haitian blocked his power. he knew that, however then he went on to say that peter was powerful enough to get them through. im not sure what that meant but they were confident they would be able to get through. when they were downstairs of the homeland security building their powers still workd cuz they teleported in and hiro asked if they should stop time. they were hella vague though on how they passed every1 upstairs. either peter's power was powerful enough to break through or they knew that mohinder would kill the haitian cuz of the comic book or peter's precog but peter n hiro never mentioned mo so i dunno. i think peter was just powerful enough to break through and i agree they were all invisible in the elevator.

n good point bout the invisibility in unexpected. i totally forgot about that. the invisibility was still in effect and peter used tk and flew with the haitian right there as well. and remember peter absorbs by just being around people. he could have absorbed the haitians ability on the rooftop then. he didnt hafta absorb it during his mindwipe. now for those saying that the haitian was out of range on the rooftop i disagree because as we saw in FYG he supposedly had the whole floor on lockdown. and yes he could have gotten more powerful but come on. he manifested when he was a kid. im sure he was already hella powerful in unexpected. i hope they delve into the complexities of powers this season and do a better job of defining them. i know they explain by showing and i dont want them to straight out be like this is this but leaving everything hella vague always gets annoying.

As much as I despise using time travel and it's possible results as an explanation for things, it could be that future Hiro started to have memories of being present Hiro up in the room and he remembered that Mohinder killed the Haitian. Explaining why he was so confidant that it wouldn't be a problem.

Please somebody shoot that down because I really don't want them to use this type of story telling...

that could b a possibility but then at that point his past self hadnt seen it yet unless early on something had already triggered the change. thnkin like that hurts my head ha but i think if they were relying on mo to kill the haitiain then it was because of the comic book not that. mohinder knew to kill the haitian from the comic book which he got from isaac's apt where f hiro was. im sure f hiro had seen and studied the comic book hella times because he was obsessed with changing everything. then again, to shoot that down we know from the gn that he had just gotten back from the subway in "our present" and saw his past self and then left in a hurry cuz of the raid. so unless the new comic book was a result of his changing the past, he would have known about it before. but if the comic book came after he visited the past, he had no time to check out his own crib and look at it in which then the memory theory works. does that make ne sense?

Yeah it makes sense. But you're misinterpreting certain things in FYG. First of all Hiro doesn't ask Peter if they SHOULD stop time, he asks him if he CAN. That's makes all the difference. Also, I never thought the hatian was out of range in unexpected. He totally would have been in range to block the invisibilty power. However, you must not have read my earlier post about how claude was part of the company. he knows all their tricks. If the hatian started blocking powers claude would have freaked and started running. Remember? Claude was already worried that Peter might have brought the company to him. And i honestly DON'T agree they were all invisible in the elevator. How does that make sense? Why is Hiro visible then in the elevator? Yes, we know peter absorbs powers from being around people, but you're missing the point where the confusion is at. Just because peter gains powers from being in range, if the hatian cancels all powers upon proximity, then peter's power to absorb would have been negated. We're still unsure of how this works and that's where the problem lies.

IMO if the hatian CAN block all powers, then he should TOTALLY be able to negate peter's power. Another thing is, if YOU were Hiro and you needed help, and peter was your friend, wouldn't you think and hope that he would help you, seeing as he's the most powerful one? I could totally see myself relying on peter because he's so powerful, even if the hatian was there.
