I don't think it's electricity Alucard. I think it's another form of Ted's ability, much akin to the electromagnetic discharge. After all, EMP can give a concussive blast if timed right, and give that electrical look to it as well....
I'm with AF on this one. Electricity.

Now? He's not sure where he is, WHO he is, or what he can do. He just knows how to survive, and that he's able to do things that most 'normal' folks can't.
Why? Why? Why? Can we make him any more of a bumbling idiot than before? ...
I'd like to see Peter with more confidence - he was desperate for a lot of last season. Also, he took enough beatings to last quite a while. More drama, less melodrama would be nice.

I think this first scene we've seen with Peter has shown the beginning of that change - he extended his hand to protect himself. Now, we're not sure if it's it was a reflex, or if he knew that he could shoot electricity, but I'm banking on the fact that something inside of him told him to extend his arm because something would happen. If I were in Peter's position with only one arm free, I would have extended my free arm in such a way so that the forearm would be protecting me. On the other hand, Peter extended his arm palm forward, which tells me that Peter knew something about his electrokinesis.
The first time Peter used telekinesis, he wasn't thinking of Sylar. In spite of what he said about thinking about Claire the first time he regenerated, I don't think he has to remember the person he got the power from. It looks like he doesn't even need to know he has a particular power. Peter might still have everything he had before and then some - he just gets to discover his power all over again.
I think he can instinctivly call upon some powers depending on his emotions. Like when he used TK before Claude was going to nail him in the face with the staff. He used the power first and then he remembered where he felt like that before and recalled it was Sylar he got it from. Though for him to normally call upon a power he does have to think about how that particaly person with thier power made him feel.
As for his current condition... I can see him having all of his older powers still all inside him minus Ted's radioactive power. If the writers took the story as to where that power literally exploded out of him due to Peter not being able to contain it like the high-strung Ted could. I could see him losing that power. All of the others are in there just waiting to be opened up again.

I'll have to rewatch the scene tonight but he could've just been moving his arm in the motion to protect himself from being hit but as his hand drew across the path of the mobster guy, viola, shock away! This would then explain why he was still shocked that something incredible like that just happened.

I don't think he knew. He looked really surprised.

I agree that he didn't know he had electrokinesis, but I think that his body knew to protect himself with his hand... a physical intuition of sorts. But again... one of those questions that will probably never be answered, lol.
I'm wondering if Peter simply came into contact with the Haitian and inadvertantly wiped his own memory and suppressed his own powers. Either way, I'm hoping the Haitian had nothing to do with this and hasn't been near Spongebob-Petrelli, because I don't think these passive yet powerful power-supressing powers would do Peter any good...
And very nice thought. The main reason I'm on the Haitian-boat is because of the necklace, but I really do like the idea of Peter mindwiping himself. Kudos!
Yeah that would be cool. There was a spoiler that said that right? Something like "you might begin to wonder if peter just doesn't want to remember" or something like that. Anyways, maybe the necklace isn't from necessarily the hatian himself, but for a group he works for? Maybe something entirely different than WTTB and Angela and the company. The symbol seems to have more meaning than we think. And I'm all for the hatian having his own agenda other than angela's. and it mabe it's not his own, but a group of protectors or something. I don't know, just a thought!

The Haitian's father gave him the necklace. It's in the graphic novels.
it seems that there r two groups at play with peter. 1 is the group that put him in the container and the 2nd is one trying to get him out. I think the irish thugs were hired by this 2nd group to get him out and set it up that way. in the preview we see that 1 of the irish guys says how its a coincidence that he was in the container that they were supposed to hit. i think the 2nd group hired them for the supposed robbery to let him out. i still think elle would be part of the 1st group and goes back to track him down. as to the haitian, what is going on? some spoilers say he has the virus and others that he is stronger. maybe mohinder cures him and amplifies his abilities. and how do you all think the haitian got the virus? what if he got it after his meeting with peter. we don't really know for sure what happens when they are together. FYG hinted that peter was powerful enough to break through the haitians power but at the same time he was killed by mohinder.
Yeah, I know he DID give him the necklace. But the guy who was going to fight for Kensei in the first episode had the symbol on the flag on the back of his horse. I read the GN and I realize that the Hatian's father had it too so it is POSSIBLE not necessarily probable that the other group I was talking about could go back many many years. The hatian's father could have had ties to this group. As the hatian grew up he learned of this group and his father's place and served in it. I know it's a completely wacky and out there theory......but I remember reading in a spoiler that maybe the Hatian has his own agenda and not just Angela's. So I figured maybe the agenda is seving a greater purpose....another group trying to do good. Just a thought.
Peter could be part of this group and not remember certain things and lead others to join such as Niki and Hiro in FYG. They lost the war.
Either way, IMO I don't really think Peter could ever get the Hatian's power. I know a lot of people think he would, but the hatian's power is to negate other powers. We've theorized so far that he can only block mind powers or something, but I'm beginning not to believe that. His proximity would immediately cancel out peter's empath power. So, if peter can't get the hatian's power then the hatian had to have mindwiped him. And if there's no group involved, why the heck would he give peter his necklace?
