The Haitian left it with Peter as a clue as to what happened to him.
Whenever the Haitian wiped a normal person's memory, they had no recollection of anything, including the Haitian himself. But whenever he wiped a special's memory, he left himself in there so they could figure out what happened to them.
Good point, except with West, he left HRG in his memory, not himself.
Kudos! Yay! It's nice to see that some of us get things right from time to time. On another note, in case any of us were wondering, it looks like Insider's spoilers are all 100% correct at this point. The prisons and everything. So it looks like HRG won't be killed, but could possibly be locked in the same prison Peter and Adam were in. Makes sense. The company don't seem to be murderers, but they wouldn't let one of their own with that much info on them run free, either. That's if he doesn't end up in a more conventional prison for murder, which is also a distinct possibility at this point.
Peter "healing" himself from what The Hatian did to him is a VERY interesting development.
I wonder...if you took The Hatian's blood, and injected it into someone who's had memories removed by The Hatian, would those memories come back?
Could Claire go back to her buddy Zac and restore his memories?
That was DEFINITELY an awesome development.
However, I don't think The Haitian's blood would do anything.
On the other hand, if Claire injected her blood into Zack, that would probably be a remedy for memory loss
Now it also stands to reason that if Peter can 'heal' what the Haitian did to him, then essentially the Haitian mentally 'cuts' out those sections where the memories are stored.
In essence, Adam's blood could also restore memories to those who have been previously affected by The Haitian's ability.

1. If he went rouge from the company not more than a week before the bomb day, how is back working for them in this episode?
2. Why does he not have a name? I predict he is named for the other Arch Angel not yet used in the series...Gabriel (Syler) Michael (Micah) and Raphael (The Haitian). Peter (rock of the church) is the other big one...
3. So do his powers only stop mental power or everything? And why the anomalies one way or the other?
Peter didn't heal from the Haitian's memory wipe. He had a cue (pic's, etc...) and then the eidetic memory from Charlie via Sylar kicked in.
would've been a better way to regain his memories but weak writing. Also it means when peter remembered his mother, Angela wasn't using any powers and he didn't read her mind. He had her there and he just...healed.
Yeah, in regards to Charlie's ability, I would have MUCH rather Peter 'remembered' that way... but Adam does say that Peter 'can heal' so he also can 'remember,' he just had to focus in on what he loves, which is what he did.
Maxx, I didn't know that Arch Angel info, and I could DEFINITELY see The Haitian being named Raphael - GREAT theory!
It also goes along with Biblical reference of Season 3 = "Exodus" that Action has so kindly found for us.

Always nice to get a shout out from you Popkorn, theroy master...Yeah, the Arch Angel stuff has been lingering in this Catholic School trained mind for some time...and considering Haiti is very religious and I know the name is reasonably popular there...could be; with that in mind the only other Arch Angel was Lucifer the Fallen (later Satan, but you knew that), so let's see if that name or a 'Lucy" shows up...Hoping the Haitians blood does not have an impact, if suddenly everyones blood has impact, that would be a shark jumper.
Mad- thought thats what i'd have preferred, it was blatanlty stated he "healed" the memory wipe.

OK, I'll try to justify why Peter healed to recover his memory. It's not my favorite theory, but it's pretty much all I can come up with:
The Haitian's power damages the brain.
Proof?
Sandra's collapse in Season 1. She had a hemorrhage from being mindwiped by the Haitian so many times.
Why did Peter heal in Angela's presence?
His mindreading of her memories triggered the same feelings that he felt when he was around Claire - "sweet sadness," as I believe he put it during his training with Claude. Peter's an empath, so the feeling alone triggered some healing, allowing him to access those memories.
Why didn't that healing just restore all his memory?
The writers didn't want it to. Simple as that.
I also pretty much have no theory as to why Charlie's eidetic memory hasn't kicked in. Maybe the damage from the Haitian's mindwiping prevented it.
Edit: Now this has got me thinking. Either the Haitian's power just damages portions of the brain so memories are inaccessible, or Charlie's power did kick in and the reason Peter could remember at all was because of her power. But that second one wouldn't explain how Adam knew he would be able to remember by healing his brain. I don't see how he' be able to recover memories in the first place, since I've always likened the Haitian's power to wiping out a harddrive. Most of that info is usually lost.
Well, let's look at this from a clinical standpoint Obsidian.
Doesn't medicine determine that memories are really just firing neurons? And nerve damage can't be healed, of I remember correctly. So let's go out on a limb here.
The Haitian's ability just damages the nerves that fire to "remember" the thoughts and scenes in question. However, with this increased healing that Claire, Adam and Peter have, they could very well have neural regeneration as well, and thus "heal" from the loss of those nerves that were damaged because of the Haitian's ability.
Thus, they _do_ lose that memory, but because of the accelerated healing and broad scope of healing that they can do (regrow body parts, heal scar tissue) they could very well regrow nerve endings as well, and thus "remember" what had been erased. It's like going back onto a hard drive and finding that electronic signature that you've been looking for that can restore a program that you never really meant to delete. There's still a trace of it lingering somewhere on that drive, you just have to find it in order to rebuild it.
