I'm going to float an idea here about the light switch. Just because the switch turns the lights on and off doesn't mean it doesn't do anything else.
Consider the little red light on your stovetop that indicates that a burner is on. Turning the dial for a burner turns that light on, but the light is just an indicator for a burner. Turning the dial did another job as well. In my work experience in manufacturing, having a huge indicator like a room light to get your attention about a hazardous condition would not be out of the question.
I have a few questions, and I'd like to know what people think:
Some people have suggested that the Haitian's powers only work on people with mental powers. How would they keep Sylar in check if so?
How was Sylar being contained while the Haitian was away keeping Matt from reading Claire's mind during her statement about Jackie's murder? If we think that the power to suppress others' powers resides in HRG, wouldn't that be even more the case? He's home with Claire, at the police station with Claire, possibly out abducting people, etc.
Why do we keep seeing the lights in Sylar's cell turned on, off, on, off when people go in and out? (if it's not an indicator) Maybe the writers are just trying to show that Sylar is being kept in the dark when no one is there to talk to him?
Has anyone noticed enough about Sylar's cell to indicate whether loose objects have been removed to prevent him flinging them around? Including little things like buttons? I don't have TiVo, cable, or broadband, so generally I get to see things one time only.
The whole thing with the light switch being turned on and off is simple: sensory depravation. It's a very effective interrogation/torture technique.
I am fairly certain that there is absolutely nothing loose on either side of the glass, and as powerful as Sylar's TK is, it isn't nearly powerful enough to shatter glass all on its own. On the Mineral Hardness Scale, glass is, I believe, a 7. Meaning that it is pretty damn hard, enough so that there are actually very few other minerals that can scratch it.
Why did Sylar attack Eden rather than H.R.G.? Sylar looked through H.R.G.'s eyes to see how his brain ticks, and apparently didn't see anything he was interested in. This means that either 1) we can stop asking if H.R.G. has a power, because he does not, or 2) Sylar was just waiting for Eden to eventually show up, because he desired her power of persuasion much more than whatever H.R.G. might have had.
Now for my own question: How did H.R.G. and the Haitian get into the room so quickly as to be able to subdue Sylar again? Was Eden really stubborn/defiant enough to attempt to kill Sylar so soon after H.R.G. told her not to, that he was able to get back before Sylar had the time to escape? Or was Sylar so stunned by Eden's sacrifice that he just kinda froze there until they arrived? Or did the outer door just have a really, really good lock?

Sylar's telekinesis is mental... which also supports why sylar didn't just sling eden into a tree w/ his TK in those woods... because the hatian was there suppressing his powers And about sylar not killing HRG when he had the chance... everytime theres a situation where we think a person should've used there powers and they couldn't hrg is either there with the hatian or the hatian is immediately at the door or in the hallway
i still don't understand why you guys still believe that it's either the haitian or hrg being the only thing preventing sylar from using his TK. if that were the case, they would not risk ever leaving him alone.

As I said, there's nothing on either side of the glass for him to hurl through it other than himself ( ) and the bed (which is more than likely bolted down tight). And, as strong his TK may be, I highly doubt it is advanced enough to shatter glass all on its own.
I understand that some threads are becoming quite long and that it can be a real hassle to read through 4-6 pgs of posts without forgetting what the heck you wanted to say in the first place. But please at least read the most recent page all the way through. I already addressed this just two posts before your own.
sorry, jjfargi i wasnt referring to you. i was talking about the others who keep insisting it was hrg/haitian. i too believe it was something about the room. if the bed was bolted down, couldnt he have unscrewed the nuts and sent it flying at the glass? he also does use TK to cut human skulls wouldnt that scratch glass?

Very good point, I suppose he should have been able to cut a doorway through the glass like a cat-burglar would. Hmm...maybe he either didn't think to try that or he just wanted to wait for the best possible moment to get Eden alone and undefended.
that was weird maybe he was just waiting or who know i dont think they are gooing to explain it who knows it could just be that he didnt want to leave cuz he wanted Eden/Haitian

The graphic novel indicates that HRG and The Hatian were just in the next room when eden was killed they tranquilized sylar immediately after eden died... sylar is shown on the ground in the preview for the next show.. they obviously thought that sylar was under wraps or weak from the sedation they also didn't expect eden to pull a homer simpson and screw up everything with her stupidity
Ladies and gentleman. Let us remember that everyone here is entitled to their opinion. We may disagree, but let us please do so politely. This thread is for discussing Sylars capture, and with the exception of those writing/creating the show, no one knows for certain what his capabilities are, so theorizing some on this thread is permitted.
It would appear that the Haitian's mind-wiping ability has a nasty side effect when used repeatedly. Mrs Bennet could no longer remember Mr Muggles or Claire. My conjecture is that his ability allows him to deaden others brain cells, much like drinking alcohol does.
However, it would appear that the effect of his mind wipe continues residually after he has completed it. Mrs Bennet was able to remember her dog and Claire after returning from testing, but with no known additional contact with the Haitian, later forgot who they were, even claiming that she did not own a dog at all. Maybe the Haitian erases the disred part of the mind, but it leaves a residue of tiny erasers that continue to erase after the procedure. The residual erasers simply target any brain cell that they contact. Mrs Bennet has been mind wiped so many times that the residual erasers are destroying most all of her memory.

So, does that mean that Claire's brother will forget where home is and that he is a part of the Bennett family? What will HRG do if his "son" forgets to come home from school? Talk about early onset of Alzheimer's

When Mark is in the bar, scanning the room (before he's abducted) he hits a "quiet spot" when the haitian is his focus. I'm surmising from this that the Haitian can, as well as "switching off" parts of the brain, erect a "privacy field".
We don't know Bennet's motives yet, but Haitian is revealed to be a good guy. Has he seen the future (why else would it be so important to him for Claire to remember everything)? Is he actually working with Bennet in order to better monitor and, if necessary control him?
