Well, it seems we have experienced the full first rift from Future Hiro's intervention. Isaacs paintings of the future are now wrong. Other than knowing of Peter saving Claire, the other rift is actually Present Hiro. There is one painting of Hiro and Ando under a bloody Homecomming sign. Episode 9, being the Homecomming episode, Ando and Hiro never even make it to the school. So, we have no idea how this will affect Hiro's development as a "Hero" (no pun intended).
If Hiro would have been there, as Future Hiro probably was since he is from an unaltered time line, he would have experienced the loss of not saving someone again as many time before. Now, it seems the possibility of Future Hiro changing is evident due to his now lack of the third event of loss, first and second being the poker game and the waitress.
Or perhaps the waitress replaced the second loss that was supposed to be Claire. Now knowing all of this, Future Hiro is apt to change.
It is still possible however, that Hiro returns to the Burnt Toast about 20-30 minutes after Peter has left. Ando advises him that they need to get to the high school and they rush over there, only to discover Peter has been arrested. Hiro and Ando look disappointed under the banner because they did get there in time to help or believe Jackie to be the cheerleader that was supposed to be saved. Thus the painting could still be accurate.
It's also worth noting that prediction only shows possible futures - giving the character an opportunity to avert whatever disaster is heading their way. That doesn't mean the future is wrong, or that Future Hiro caused a rift (see predestination paradox).
when hiro went back in time, it changed charlies b-day pic. how do you know that once hiro jumped back, isaac never painted that frame. he could have painted something different.
I would hazard a guess that they'll do the whole prequel thing for the Six Months episode, then pick up the present-time plot (whenever they decide to do that) with Hiro returning to the diner and going with Ando to Homecoming. They arrive in the aftermath of the Sylar attack. After that, I have a couple of ideas:
1. They find out Peter was taken by the police and leave to help him.
2. They meet HRG/Eden/Voodooman and join the Hero Squad, if only tangentally
Anyone else? What do you think would happen if Hiro and Ando came back in the aftermath of the Homecoming bloodbath?

When Hiro travelled back in time he also changed the present his friend Ando had no reason to fly to Texas and even if he would he would remember things differently.
The only possible explanation is Hiro went to a parallel universe, but then the lady in the restaurant told Ando that Hiro was there with them 6 mo ago so the history did changed therefore there was no way Ando could remember everything because his experiences with Hiro for the past 6 months will be removed from his memory.
I love this show but I am quite disappointed when they messed up big time in a key plot like this.
I think he created a rift that Ando was caught in. Maybe because he was in such close range to Hiro when he went back in time? Like the Enterprise when McCoy changed time, when he saved Edith Keeler. The Enterprise was in such close range to the Gaurdian, that even though the Federation no longer exsisted, the ship was still there.
I guess a rift is just a fancy rug used to cover a hole in the floor? At least on TV.
Time travel talk makes my head hurt but I still like pondering over it. As you can tell, I don't know jack about time travel.
Now don't jump to conclusions....all shows, stories, movies have many different takes on time travel. This show's take has yet to be explained to the fullest extent.
AHHHHHH!!! I figured it out!! This is why Ando goes back to Japan and when the officers call, he says they have been looking for Hiro for weeks. Well, just a theory, but everything in this show tends to happen no matter what they do.
