I think that Linderman's ability coupled with his unexpected death was an intended irony on behalf of the writers. In "Parasite," we were introduced to a new character, one who wanted to "save the world" and make a difference. We were originally led to believe that he was an evil man who brought nothing but trouble to the lives of others (such as Niki and Nathan). However, we also discovered through the graphic novels and spoiler clips that he could heal others - so perhaps for a moment (for me at least, especially after reading the graphic novels) I believed that there was something more to Linderman's desire of saving the world and that the explosion might indeed be the right path to take. As his character progressed, however, we came to realize that our first assumptions were correct and that he was on the "evil" side, working in his own favor - but his healing ability was something that was always in the back of our minds.
It's my opinion that without this healing ability, an ability that would typically be characterized as "humanitarian" itself, Linderman's character, his goal, and his chances of succeeding in saving the world would not have been as believable.
Thoughts? |

| Just a thought... The Linderman Act is so named because Nathan exposes Linderman's plan to blow up New York before the bomb goes off. He then unites the nation in a common goal to identify the metas who are unstable and dangerous... and the humans who are willing to help them. Remember, Linderman is a meta, Nathan depises him and what he is being made to do and, in a way to discredit Linderman, names the act after him... Just a thought... |
Hmmm, a very interesting thought, Talonz.
However, there are two arguments I'd like to propose. The first is the fact that I don't think there is enough time for Nathan to expose Linderman's explosion plan to all of New York considering that it's supposed to happen within 24 hours - and I also don't think that it would be the smart thing to do. The REAL smart thing to do would be to tell the American public AFTER the explosion that the government discovered it was Linderman, and furthermore tell them that Homeland Security and the FBI has "found Linderman and killed him after he put up a resistance." I could definitely see that happening.
My other argument is that I'm not sure if a president would create an act/law in the name of the person who actually committed that crime or did the "wrong-doing." Does anybody have any examples of this in American society? I can't think of any... |

popkorn615, you got me on those...
Although, I can see Nathan coming in at the 24th hour and swooping in to stop the bomb (or take the credit). It would be "heroic" and definitely something "presidential"...
Then, again, Heroes has never done the expected... Can't wait for tonight!!!!! |

That scene was full of irony.
D.L. can phase through bullets, but he took a bullet for Nikki/Jessica
D.L. killed the one man that could heal him
so on and so forth.
Linderman is gone. End of story in my book. |

“Your father was one of us,” Linderman told Nathan in the previous episode. “Someone with great power. He tried to make a difference in the world.”"I’ve always been under the suspicion that — and again I’m not saying anything with any terrific insight — but I’ve always thought that wouldn’t it be interesting if Malcolm (Linderman) had something more to do with being a part of the Petrelli (family),” said Pasdar. So-no knew leads there as we already know that he is not. “I think I can say this. I knew your father quite well,” said McDowell. (via Province)

Heh, thanks for the link, Action
"Brother vs. Brother. How biblical."
(Maybe F. Sylar wasn't referring to Nathan vs. Peter... ) |

I have to say that Linderman's TOAST. B'bye, don't forget to nail the lid shut when you toss him in the ground, fellas.
However, I don't think we've seen the last of his plans. Linderman struck me as someone who has quite a few contingency plans in place. And he even has some old comrades who can be called upon to make sure they're done. We've got Angela still in the mix, Kaito's still around, even though his goals seem to be contrary to Linderman's at this time, and HRG (Noah) is still around and knows about the goals that OWI has been working toward. Put them all together, and you've still got Linderman's ideas working even when he's dead and gone. |

I think Angela's the only character in the running to try to continue linderman's plans. HRG doesn't know the goals OWI was working for. In Company Man not even claude knows. Remember when they're in the car before HRG shoots claude? HRG says something like "You're hiding one of them, you're getting in the way of the company's goal." And then Claude says "But did you ever stop to think about what those goals are?" Like he doesn't know, but knows they're evil. Noah is a good guy now And i think Kaito is too. But I'm with you on Angela trying to continue Linderman's plans. |
