I posted this in the Spoilerfix thread already, but I thought I'd repost it here as it pertains to the topic at hand.
Action suggested that Hiro teleports the exploding man to WWII Hiroshima, which would be a clever way of ultimately tying Hiro with the origins of his name.
Acidtwister suggested that it may come down to who explodes the fastest - Peter or Sylar - it's a race to the finish.
Well, how about this for a Popkorny combination of their theories -
Peter AND Sylar are BOTH on the verge of exploding. Hiro teleports either Peter or Sylar to Hiroshima, and then the other one to NAGASAKI. After all, there were two atomic bombs dropped on Japan to end WWII...
Hmmm... it's a little crazy, but anybody have any thoughts about both of them going nuclear?
A. I thought at least ONE of those explosions had to actually be an A-Bomb since we tested them and have historical evidence of the "MANHATTAN PROJECT" (hey, another clue to support my theory!)
B. I REALLY hope its just Peter that explodes. Not based on anything, just hoping.
C. I only half-heartedly support my own theory anyway
05/01 - I'm also told that the bomb will go off in the season finale but how and when it happens will prevent the loss of a mass of innocent life. Source: Kristin on E!Online
So I dont see how murdering millions of Japanese people is "preventing the loss of a mass of innocent life."

so theres that. :\
Lol, great point. I guess it's back to the Dino-era and/or deep-space explosion theories for this kernel...
But I just had a wild thought (POPKORN like! -- hey, I just invented a new "term" in POPKORN's honor!!!) and wanted to share with you:
There is another way for the explosion to happen "WITHOUT A MASSIVE LOSS OF LIFE". A few episodes ago, we essentially saw Hiro stop a bullet, and it practically traveled back into the gun barrel causing a misfire/backfire. NOW, obviously, a Nuclear explosion is on a massive scale (unlike a gun firing). Yet, as we have seen previously as well, Ted, doesn't go Nuclear immediately, he builds up.... And neither does Peter for that matter. In fact, in "Distractions", all Claude had to do was punch Peter to knock him out and "distract" him from going "nuclear". So again, it takes a little bit to go nuclear. It's not immediate. (Hell, Claude pretty much tells Peter about this -- you know, a building nuclear explosion in "Distractions").
Before I get to my point, let me state one more thing. From the spoilerfix "spoiler", it appears that Hiro will get frustrated from Nathan's "non-help" in the matter of stopping the bomb. Yet, he will receive unexpected help in the form of training to harness his power from his father Kaito Nakamura
who could be Takezo Kensei
. Kaito, obviously wants to stop the explosion.
What if these things now combine in such a way to allow Hiro to indeed NOT STOP the explosion from happening, but reverse it, OR stop it while it's happening and thus mitigate it's effects? (Some destruction, some casualties, but no massive loss of life in NYC). This will still be the spring-board Linderman envisions for Nathan....
What if the OWI and Linderman already know the explosion's outcome as well, and have just NOT told Nathan? (stray thought)
Obviously, there are three corollaries out of this:
1) This theory does not answer whether Sylar takes Ted's power and he is the one who tries to blow-up. Personally, I don't think Ted survives, and I do think it's Sylar trying to do harm....
2) Obviously, events occur after the election, as the "Landslide" WILL OCCUR for Nathan, and he will secure his congressional seat.
However,
3) This theory still leaves the door open for Hiro to kill Sylar via a sword stroke AFTER the election as those events WILL NOT be depicted until Season 2. This actually falls in line with what Zachary Quinto has said repeatedly about not knowing whether he (his character) survives into season 2. I think him saying that could be interpreted (obviously) a number of ways, but in this theory means that if he's the one that explodes, we won't really know his final fate until season 2....
OF course, with foreshadowing by the show writers, we know that Hiro must stab him the day after the election....... Unless something changes the next 2 Mondays.
Anyhow, I don't know if anybody else has come up with a similar theory to this one, but I wanted to share it as fast as I came up with it, before it disappears in the ether.
Wait a second....I had not realized this before....when it is said that Ted is picked up by the Fed,
you think they would haul him off in a regular car, or a big huge SWAT type truck. Just like the one we see Sylar flip over at night in the preview. I think Ted is knocked out by the Fed (or the company, or somebody before he goes Nova and taken into custody).
Also at night (and I would hazard a guess later that same night) we see Sylar on top of the building and his eyes flash with fire. I think this is the point Sylar has killed Ted (am sure the SWAT truck flipping like that helped a heck of a lot) and taken his powers, setting up the final showdown.

Count me in! Nice thought I can't remember if it's been suggested yet or not, but it's surely not a Popkorny kernel!
That's an interesting idea, but Sylar is like a cockroach. He'd just shield himself with TK or something. Could TK stop radiation? Hell, the shockwave would slam him into a building or something. But, once again, he has a knack for survival.
Well, there's always that "possible reality" from "Five Years Gone" . . . . Nathan better watch his back. As for Candice, I think she'd be a beeyatch to kill. Look at when Micah tried to escape!!
