I'd still like to point out that I figured out Sylar was posing as Nathan weeks ago.
OOPS, sorry! You did mention this in another thread! My first encounter was with POPKORN's THREAD, but I'll give you PROPS tonight too. Excellent theory!
whomever posted it, kudos. Anyways, back to the fight..... My money is on Peter, he's a bad momma-jamma in the future; just his pissed off looks are enough to bring Sylar to his knees!

Its a fight that probably would never end. Peter and Sylar are evenly matched in powers, and they can counter each other perfectly.

I agree that it would never end, but not because they're evenly matched. Peter at that point is probably experienced enough in his powers that once Sylar uses a power, he can absorb it and turn it around and use it against him. Therefore, Sylar is limited by the powers he obtained by killing, whereas Peter has all the powers he's been exposed to, and all of Sylar's, too.
What makes it never-ending is that in this timeline, both of them have Claire's powers. It'd be very hard for them to kill each other, if not impossible.
What do you all think will be the effect of Sylar's freezing ability vs. Peter's "pyro" power? We saw the beginnings of that a little bit in the episode. Would it be like ICEMAN vs. The HUMAN TORCH? Can Sylar project the freezing power sort of like a freezing ray?
It is just so cool to think about this!!!!! Brings back memories when I was younger and used to read comic books!
Sylar could never match or surpass Peter in power.
In raw power? Probably not...but both are limited in a fight to the powers they possess. And it appears that both Peter and Sylar have been gaining abilities that offset the other.
For instance:
Peter gains Ted's radiation/heat abilities that are offset by Sylar's freezing powers.
Sylar gains super-hearing to offset Peter's invisibility
Both can fly, use Telekinesis, paint the future, and (eventually) regenerate.
They only differ in the areas of stopping time, phasing, and glamoring/changing appearance.
In fact, I would wager that Sylar, especially in the future, has more powers than Peter does.

You're forgetting that Peter is a mimic. He is the living, breathing, embodiment of "anything you can do, I can do better."
Actually, a point can be made, after tonight episode that Sylar is WORSE ("BADDER"? "BETTER"? -- whatever!!!) than Peter. WHY?
Think about it! If Sylar actually ever grows a brain, and stops seeking power for power's sake, but instead learns how to "hide", how to blend into the real world, there will be nothing in the Future to stop him. Evolution created Peter to stop him. But in the end it might be ONLY Peter.
Tonight's Sylar was extremely smart, he bid his time well, he hid, he acted like a real predator would in the wild. You can anticipate the kill, you can gain power in secret, you can place yourself in a position of authority to hide in plain sight. These are the methods of someone with intelligence -- not a power hungry monster. Sylar is extremely dangerous NOW. A case can be made that the Heroes of our time need to stop him now and not in the future.
The thought of an intelligent Sylar, scares me more than the Sylar we've seen so far.....
Well if by "future," you mean the one we just saw in episode 20 (Loop #2), and the Peter vs. Sylar that they leave us with, then Sylar definitely outmatches Peter in my opinion - he's acquired Claire's healing ability. We are unsure as to whether or not Future Peter has this healing ability (because Claire is now alive, however it was Present Peter that saved her, not Future Peter). He also has a scar, and with Claire's ability the scar would have fully healed. Future Peter never had Claire's power, and it wouldn't make sense if Future Peter just one day had the ability to heal. Thus, IMO, Future Sylar possesses healing and Future Peter does not, and Future Sylar > Future Peter as of the end of episode 20.
However, as for as things are now in the present timeline, I'd have to say that Peter possesses the potential to be stronger than Sylar, but only after Peter develops his fighting skills (mentality, strategies) when confronting Sylar, otherwise Sylar will just immediately go for the kill over and over again, and Peter's bound to lose his noggin one day.
