Anyone else notice the ticking clocks sound before he killed Betty? That means his intuitive aptitude was working....
Yes indeed. But I think that almost makes it more interesting. How, then, did the Company manage to rid him of the powers he'd accumulated, if he doesn't have the virus?
I was actually starting to wonder about that. Even if the sound is just for dramatic effect when Sylar kills and he does has the virus, he shouldn't be able to have acquired Candace's ability if his base ability is suppressed. Though he did seem to believe that he not only had it but also understood how to use it.
If you recall, Molly still had her powers, but not the energy or ability to utilize that power. Mainly because she was too weak.
I'm of the mindset that because Sylar's still on the mend from his brush with death, he's not got the strength to use his powers. Once his body heals, he'll have full use of his powers.
I don't think he's got the virus, but I do think his body is just eating itself up with him trying to use his abilities while it's trying to heal itself.

Yes, I did indeed sir. And I agree with you on that...
...it's only a matter of time now...

That's a great question, Obsidian. And I have an accompanying theory to it that I will post in the "Haitian" thread now.
I'm personally leaning toward the company finding a way to get rid of the powers he's accumulated theory.
The way Sylars' original power worked ...wouldn't he notice something like that Virus? Especially if it was affecting himself, or any of his victims in any way (even slightly .. he notices EVERYTHING).
I would agree with those posting about the clock ticking being a clue. Despite his current physical injuries, he seems to have been reduced to his orginal self with his original powers ... for the moment at least.
On a related note:
Is the fat body finally being revealed possibly the only proof we have that Candance is actually dead? And, therefore, that he did what he thought he did in taking her power?
After all, all that stuff, including his killing her, etc, Candace could have made him see. Having him out in the middle of nowhere , withj ust Candace guarding .. and her going "soft" for him, leaving an opening to kill her and escape ...

Seems like a setup to me.
I do believe that revealing Betty's true form means she's dead. Sylar did what he usually does to steal someone's powers (whatever that actually may be), so I think he "physically" has her power, but whatever the Company did to him makes him unable to actually use it, along with every other power he has besides his base intuitive aptitude.
And Candice (not Betty) was always rather arrogant. She could have possibly thought Sylar wouldn't try to touch her, for whatever deluded reason. Maybe her power made her feel untouchable.
The company didn't want Sylar killed last season, even though they knew he was dangerous. We know Candice works for The Company. The company sent Mohinder to cure the Hatian. What if the company was funding Mohinder's work so they could get the virus cure to cure Sylar?
We know NOTHING about Bob, other than he looks like a scary clown who's not wearing his makeup (and has alchemetic powers). Yet, we know plenty about the company and most of the people who've worked for it. And just about everyone we've met, has done some pretty creepy things. You can be sure that the company has a reason for needing for Mohinder's cure.
For the record:
I dont think Sylar has the virus AND Maya is infecting people with the same virus. Those two things are not both true. Maybe one or the other but not both of them. If Sylar has the virus, then why have Candice out there where she could get it and no longer fool syalr with her illusions? What is the pupose of keeping a sick Sylar in Mexico and not in a lab?
If Maya is giving people the virus then her brother is able to absorb it. Sounds like he is the cure and not Mohinder. Syalr got sick when Maya did her thing, so I dont think that she is giving people the virus.
I think he has to be in contact with Maya in order to counteract her ability, though.
I don't really consider it an 'absorbtion' of her power much less that he really counteracts her power. Like a null value being inserted where her ability would usually go.
Because of this, the ability retrogrades, and withdraws itself.
So my thought is that not only can he do this for Maya, but anyone with some form of area affect ability can be countered by Alejandro.
That's my guess, but I'd say that it's not as far out there as some of the ideas that I've come up with!
Hmmm... I like the Bob Gray theory, Action, but you'd think that he'd have more of a problem with Mohinder than he originally led on to believe, considering that Mo tried to kill his son.
But then again, they need Mohinder, so I think that first and foremost, it all has to do with politics - The Company is all about business.
Darkness seeps out of Maya, Alejandro absorbs darkness. I don't think it is so for all AOE powers.
As for Sylar, I'm also starting to think that he is not infected with any virus. I think he's been physically inhibited. So I expect him to run his fingers through his hair and find a hidden scar at some point. Thos 8 surgical procedures Candice mentioned - I don't think they were all on his chest!
Yeah, I think it's being set up to show that the Company performed some procedures on Sylar, taking away his powers. I think this may be similar to the surgery someone else suggested the company could have performed on Kensai. If this is true, perhaps we have an evil union in the works here. And West might get involved too. Maybe not. Anyway, whoever's killing the original 12 I see as being someone who was "messed with" by the company, and I think if they took away Sylar's powers this would bode well for that storyline. But how would he get them back?
