I for one fail to subscribe to the EAT THEM Theory!!!!!!! I am thinking............... he is a watch maker,he fixed PaPa Suresh's watch after deducting it was losing 2 seconds, he seemed to be able to diagnose it by some sort of "power", he looked at the man with telekinetic powers and deducted that he was "broken", now, was he able to organically mimic this ability by "seeing" it, then recreate it in his brain? or was it that he actually took the "broken" part and added it to his own "gears" some how.......????
It could be by EATING THEM, somewhere i remember seeing a documentary on a tribe that burned their dead and consumed the ashes to obtain the soul of the dead..........
My guess is that Sylar's ability is to just -- figure out how things work and fix them if their broken. Sounds lame -- I know -- but here me out...
Now, when he attacks Brian Davis his intentions are to determine "how" Brian can move the mug on the table. He figures it out my examining BD's brain, then "fixes" himself, since he doesn't have the telekinetic power and is in fact "broken."
I don't think that he's eating the brains, though. I think that over the course of 6 months, he deduced new ways to use his new found abilities. For instance, he obviously couldn't "unscrew" anyone's skull without BD's telekinetic power. Once acquired, he uses it to make less of a mess. It's possible that he's acquired another ability that allows him to dispose of the brains when he's done.
Sylar's diagnostic/repair skills seem eerily similar to Micah's. I wonder if they will be used as foils to each other? Could Micah have the potential to do what Sylar does? At first I thought that Sylar might have an influence on the organic and Micah on the mechanic, but Gabriel was fixing watches before brains.
Any thoughts? Might we see other similarities between character's abilities?
Personally I feel like he has the ability to see what's "broken" in someone's brain. When he cuts the brain out, and looks it over. I think he simply listen's, and observes. Maybe by looking at a brain that is broken, and seeing how it differ's from his own, he is able to simply turn on/off the right sequence of "switches" in his own brain to trigger a power.
I don't think he's eating the brains, simply observing their "broken" components and purposefully breaking his to obtain these powers.
I don't think he's "powered" at all. I think he is a genius watchmaker with a major inferiority/superiority complex. He uses terminology like "broken" and "I can fix you" as a part of his psichosis. The fact that was not powered was the motivation for seeking Brian out. Don't forget that Suresh couldn't discover any powers or anomolies in his brain.
I think he has a power, but it wasn't one Chandra was looking for. Chandra only anticipated certain powers, but not every possible kind. Mohinder never thought someone like Peter, a power copy cat, could exsist. Maybe they didn't anticipate Sylar's power either.
i refuse to believe the eating of the brains. i can see the how maybe he examines the brain, but cant find a reasonalbe explaination on how he is applying the powers to his body. unless he has a the power to power drain to give himself the ablity. like a power absorb or something.
i can understand why its brain as papa was explaining how the brain is everything. And if you had a sould, it would be there. but how could a simple watchmaker (a very good one) be able to map out the brain and find out all this info.??
Yeah! I also don't think he eats brains! Who came up with this idea.
I am curious to what he is doing with those brains -- but from Episode # 10, it seems pretty clear to me that just like he can see inside the internals of a mechanical device like a watch and fix the minutest detail, he can also examine a brain.
He did so with Brian, his first victim who he might have killed accidentally, in jealously, on purpose, whatever -- we had a scene where he saw the insides of Brian's brain. So, I will buy the Theory that he can look at the brain and make those same adjustments to his own brain! Good call!
I kind of agree. He can sense how things work and can recreate them.
I totally agree. If you go back and watch, the first thing he did after he whacked Bryan over the head with the crystal was put on his watchmaking glasses. He was interested in "seeing" how Bryan's brain worked. And that may very well be his true power, "seeing how the pieces fit together" (his own words.)
And I think Sylar wants to be the only one, because if there are others with abilities then he isn't "special" anymore. Hence why he's killing all the others on the map.
Sylar's diagnostic/repair skills seem eerily similar to Micah's. I wonder if they will be used as foils to each other? Could Micah have the potential to do what Sylar does? Micha will look over something to study it, but i think its shown he can communicate with/through man made devices. Mr. Micha is the ghost in the machine...
maybe sylar studies the brain to decide what bit contains the genetic info he needs to eat... yes i'm stickin with the brain snack theroy till i'm proven wrong... eat them brains boy! eat em up!
yes. the eating of the brain has not yet been disproven, but i doubt they will go that route. now that i think of it, i dont even know if the writers have an answer themselves. does anyone know how many episodes have actually been filmed already?
anyway, back to subject. if i eat a rocket scientists brain, i wouldnt gain knowledge of becoming a rocket scientist...probably a really bad stomach ache. but this is science fiction, anthing is possible i guess.
