I just saw "Night at the Museum". Great movie. But anyway, they had a new trailer for Spider-Man 3 in front of it. I CANNOT wait for this movie. It looks awesome. The one thing that has me worrying about it is what they are doing with the story. For starters-- saying The Sandman actually killed Uncle Ben??? I dont like that. And another thing is, by the looks of this ad, it looks like they're having the black costume just appear from his thirst for revenge. That isnt even close to the comic book story origin. Granted, they probably couldnt keep the whole "Cosmic Wars, aliens, blah blah " story for mainstream movie goers to swallow. But the could've had it a little closer to that. Dont even get me started on the Gwen Stacy thing!

I'm not exactly a purist. I didnt like that they make his webs organic & part of him in the first one (rather than making the webs & web-shooters himself) but I didnt mind THAT much.I was also sceptical of a black Kingpin at first but Michael Clarke Duncan did a great job in Daredevil.

I can see why they wouldnt do the true story of Cosmic Wars & the whole thing. The mainstream movie going audience wouldnt buy it.I'd preferrred them not show the Cosmic Wars but maybe mention it passing. That might fly better. Or at least have something kinda close to it. When I first heard Thomas Hayden Church & Topher Grace the rumour was Chameleon was a villian. I thought "OK, this small guy is him. but Church is a little bit bigger than Toby, he could be Venom."

Maybe. I've been waiting 3 years for this moment tho. As soon as I found out it was going to be 3 years between movies instead of the usual 2 years I thought-- maybe they need the extra year for more CG work, like for VENOM!

Dont know what preview you saw but I saw a preview that showed Spidie trying to pull off the "black suit" which seemes to act like tar... much like the comic Venom. They may mention Cosmic Wars and they may even let the astronaut become Venom to set up a 4th. From what I gathered, it seems like the suit was taking over and he wanted it off (think The Mask with Jim Carrey). Whether or not they say that Venom is an alien... I dunno... but I dont think that they are saying that Venom is Spidie in a black suit.

Where did they say that Sandman killed Uncle Ben? Didnt see that.. but those previews are quick.

THREE VILLIANS?!? How can you have a decent storyline and really develop three villians (Yea I know Hobgoblin has been in the works for the last two movies)? Seems like they are cramming!!

I know they arent saying Venom is the black suited Spidey. Remember when the Peter & Aunt May were talking to the cops? They said they had a new on lead on who really killed Uncle Ben. Then they showed Sandman. The astronaut was never Venom. It was Eddie Brock, another Bugle photographer. Harry in the costume assumed the mantle of the Green Goblin, not the Hobgoblin. That was a completely different person.

Venom, as in Eddie Brock and the symbiote, will be in the movie for at least a few seconds. Back in the fall footage was leaked that showed Peter ripping off the suit in the bell tower and it dripping down onto Brock while he was hanging from webs and then Venom dropping to the ground and lunging forward. Classic scene. Anyway, it was up for about a day popping up, disapearing, popping up, disapearing as Fox desperatley tried to stop it. I caught it and, though low quality, looked real enough. The Gwen aspect is supposed to be in there too, but I think the Cosmic Wars Arc will be a bit much and it'll probably get left out.
