Most people have shades of grey in them. I like how the series isnt afraid to toss that out and make us see them as humans that are flawed. Thats why i really like the show so much.
I don't know if I necessarily see him as becoming a villian. I just think he doesn't necessarily want to admit to anyone including himself that he is special and has special powers.

Agreed, he sees his political campaign as being his true destiny. Nathan's going to have a hard time accepting his REAL destiny.
I think struggles make characters seem more real. Saccharin heroes are annoying and artificial. I think seeing this internal battles is healthy for a show that's planning on being around for a while.
He has an uncanny way of just starting to seem nice and empathetic and then all of a sudden he turns and does something to enhance his career, Bit of a scumbag, really.

I am thinking that the writers & producers are feeling out public interest at this point. I think that some of the characters are still in the development stages so they can see where the storyline might best be headed.
I think Nathan looks and acts too smooth to be good for anyone. He may turn out to use his powers for good despite himself, but I think that will be drawn out by his brother ( or possibly by a need to beat his brother and be better than Peter?). But it's going to be hard to ever make him a likable good guy.
I personally see Nathan using his Political stance as a way to get public favor down the line as being Anti-Hero. Sort of like the X-Men have done with some of their Political/Military types. Instead of embracing fellow people trying to do good by the public they shun and demonize those with special powers. Not sure yet how it will pan out but this is definately one way they can take it. It would make it all the harder for Peter to be part of the group if he's constantly bombarded by his brother's propaganda.
Nathan is the perfect candidate for Villianism. He is a good leader, as evidenced by his, thus far, successful political career. He is intelligent, and he is willing to make sacrifices for what he considers the greater good. A good villian is never intending to do evil; he/she mere does not have the same idea of what good is. It is also a great plot device to pit brother against brother. In the end, maybe he'll come around, but I have a feeling he will, at least temporarily, be a villian.
