So check this out: here is my theory on the phrase "save the cheerleader, save the world."
Who did Hiro tell this too? Peter Who saved the cheerleader? Peter Who is supposed to save the world? Peter
I don't think that Hiro was telling Peter that by saving the cheerleader he is saving the world, I think he was giving him two commands.
1. Save the Cheerleader 2. Save the World
I think the cheerleader plays into saving the world as well as some of the other heroes, but I think that it is Peter that is ultimately the one who saves the world. As time goes on, I think that Peters power will grow so that he will be able to take on many powers at one time and they will also last for awhile, which will ultimately lead to saving the world.
I may be wrong about Peter, but I don't believe - save the cheerleader and by doing so you are saving the world. If he saved the cheerleader which in turn saved the world you might as well just end the show there. I think these are two separate commands.
This is just my theory, what do you all think? |

I think you're correct with Peter saving Claire first. Then when Peter & Claire are in NY, Peter can use her powers to to heal himself after "saving the world".
If the explosion in NY happens, then the US would retaliate any way they could which would lead to Armageddon - Save The World... |

| I also think that it's important to point out that if Peter didn't even attempt to "save the cheerleader..." then he wouldn't have been taken in on suspicions that he's Sylar (which I believe he was and we'll see that in the coming episodes.) Him just being there sets all of the events in motion to bring the Peter (who I believe is the "leader" -- hiro tells him 'be the one we need') to the start of the path that eventually will assemble our "Heroes". |
