I was thinking about the roach being there earlier today as well.
The roach is a symbol, of many things, but in this case it is definately on at Sylars struggle to survive. The fact that he always pulls through to live and kill again.
I feel like Sylar had been knocked down quite a bit in that final episode.
He got the $#!+ kicked out of him like a little &!+(# after all of this setup of him being the big bad wolf (Which is fitting), and then dies.
But that just isnt the spirit of the character of Sylar, to die and be dragged off like a pile of meat.
I think he probably crawled down there on his own volition, like the lowly cockroach he had been reduced to.
I think someone needs to go back and rewatch all the Heroes episodes, and specifically look for the roaches. I would do it, but I am without a computer that has sound. I came in late the Heroes, and so had started watching the first episodes later. A friend of mine pointed out the roach on Matt's food, and so when I watched the first three episodes, I looked carefully, and in all of them, there is a coachroad. I think they are significant. Maybe they have to do with the guy worse than Sylar.
Personally, I don't think Sylar was moved of his own volition.
Why couldn't Claude have been the one who moved him? After all, we don't know anything about where he's been. Plus, he is the one person who could have been there unnoticed, and moved him unnoticed. And, there has been a thread here indicating a spoiler that Claude would return in the season finale. The removal of Sylar may have been just that.
Lastly, Claude may be working for Angela Petrelli, as far as we know. She may have her own designs on Sylar, and have an interest in keeping him alive.
Posted: Thu May 24, 2007 2:55 pm Post subject: Evolution and Sylar.
I think that the cockroach was just there to represent evolution and also as a reminder of the impending nuclear explosion.
Another thing was how Sylar takes people's powers (sorry this is an old one). Alot of people think he eats the brains. This could be how it works as I read somewhere that it is actually possible to transfer RNA through consumption...
However I'm not so sure on this theory... Early on we see Syler fix Dr. Suresh's watch, he knew instantly that it was broken, and was able to disassemble it and repair it within seconds.
My theory is that perhaps he is able to provoke his own evolution, but must first understand the way in which his victims' brains work, by studying them. Then, just like setting the time of a watch to that of another, he is able to modify his own brain/DNA to mimic the actions of his victim's brain/DNA.
Remember that Dr. Suresh referred to Sylar as 'patient 0' and Mohinder needed some of Sylar's DNA in order to test the DNA of people involved in the human genome project in order to see whether or not they had a special ability (He extracted it from Sylar after drugging him). This means that Sylar's DNA must have reacted with the DNA of other special people.
Perhaps Sylar's ability is being able to evolve... but first he must understand in what way he must do it. With evolution being the subject matter of the show it would certainly explain why he was so important to Dr. Suresh, and also the name 'patient 0'
Just to add to my last post.... I know that the last roach was after the blast but I still think it relates to it... I think it's just meant to represent survival through evolution.
Lol, you know what would be really awesome/really not-awesome? If one of the six or so powers that Sylar acquired that we DON'T know about was the ability to morph into an any living organism (animal, insect, maybe even plant) and take on its characteristics. If that was the case, then Sylar could very well be that cockroach, and the reason he turned into it is because with a fatal wound, he knew that he would have a better chance of surviving as opposed to staying 'human' and taking the risk of internally/externally bleeding to death.
However, if this were the case, I think I'd drive to the city myself and throw rocks at the NBC studios, and then mail a rock to LA for someone to throw at the NBC studios there. Haha.
That depends AF. If he can only emulate insect form, then yes, he'd still need Candace's ability to be able to impersonate humans. If he was able to also emulate mammals, then I'd say he wouldn't need Candace's ability at all. After all, then he could be just about anything he put his mind to.. Literally.

If he turns into an insect, where does the "extra" stuff go? You're bordering on magic here (you know, Harry Potter Animagus stuff).
I highly doubt he turned into the roach we saw.....

Remember when all his powers flashed in his eyes also? Does this mean he has to start from square one collecting again? That would suck and he would definitely seem pointless as a character.

I dont know where you got that out of my post, because I certainly dont think it.
if he can morph then he doesnt need the power of illusion, PK.
I was talking about REALLY morphing into an animal or insect or something, like Animorphs style - as in they can transform into other animals/insects, not other humans. Furthermore, sure, Candice could make herself look like a roach, but she wouldn't be able to use the attributes of a roach, or any other ability from another organism, to her advantage.
Picture it this way - Candice is about to get hit by a train but can't run away because her legs are broken. To others, she could make it "seem" like she shapeshifts into a bird and flies away. However, with a power like the one I mentioned, Sylar could shapshift into a bird and ACTUALLY fly away.
When was the first time a roach appeared in front of Sylar? In the cell at Primatech? If so, that could have been the time he's acquired the roach "transformation." I know it sounds like a bunch of poo right now, and in all honesty it's not a theory I'm going to support to the death, or even fully believe myself - I'm just putting it on the table.
