Did anyone else notice the Tattoo on Niki's back?? It's the mysterious symbol, but a symbol of what? And does she have it when she isn't "Mirror Niki?"

Nice theory. I keep trying to figure out the meaning of the symbol, having it be Hiro's would be ubercool. Plus it looks like Kanji so that makes total sense!

I think that the tattoo / symbol (also visible in pool floaties before cop hears girls whisper) is a broken / partial DNA string. Same picture on front of doctors book I think.

DUDE!! DUDE!! it's also in the code that the father left...!! Look at the recesses(ask an artist) that the code makes,..same mark on Nikki, same symbol left in POOL when the little girl gets saved.

The symbol seems to arise everytime a power is awakened. The cop's hearing is awakened, the symbol apears. Her evil self awakens, the symbol apears. The code that is all gibberish, shows the code as it runs through. To find the people with special powers, you have to find the symbol. Even the vodoo guy, when using his power a necklace he was wearing shows and ta da! It's the symbol.

That code that looks like gibberish is a DNA map, and the blank spaces are what form the symbol. I think the "changing DNA" theory is what it is. I'm not sure how it can be caused by a solar eclipse, but I guess we'll find that out.

I just watched Eps 2-4 (Tivo for the win!) and that symbol is EVERYWHERE. Mohinder's dad's book- when Hiro goes to Issac's studio in the future, there are about 10 different paintings of it. The hose in the pool at the little girls house w/ Mark, Nikki's tattoo, the mysterious dark stranger, the scroll of the DNA program, Claire's book from her locker, and a few other places that may or may not be intentional. (There's a still of the lizard in Mohinder's apt from an overhead view that looks kind of like it for instance.)
The use of the symbol reminds me of the symbol from John Doe... It pops up every now and then for a "wow that's spooky!" effect. I'm sure in the future we'll figure it out, but I have a feeling they will link it to some historical thing (Either oriental or perhaps egyptian or mayan.)
oh... the eclipse... I've been wondering why the hell these people would just be discovering their powers now if they are the result of genetic evolution... if that were the case, wouldn't they have had the powers from birth?... wouldn't Claire grow up knowing she's different because she's never retained an injury in her life?... unless she was an EXTREMELY mellow and cautious child who never ever got hurt...
so perhaps the eclipse triggered something that set all this crap off?
