What about episode 7.... there's a new symbol.... At the very end of the episode..... Matt and the new guy. The one who has radiation. Both of them had it. What about that. It might be a new group or something.
As I said in another post, I think it is for heroes that have recently developed thier powers, as opposed to those whose powers emerged 6 months ago - or more.
As far as the difference in the symbols, it could mean many different things, like an inventory mark from HRG, or showing the control or developemental stage of the power, im not to convinced yet that it could show sides or alignment in that good and bad are choices and are also dependant upon the reasons the choices are made, Claire chose to hurt the Quarterback, her intention was good (to stop others from being hurt), but the means were not (even though i think he deserved it)
But wasn't it mentioned that Isaac was shown to have the two-line mark in an episode before we see Eden mentioning "the precog" to HRG? If he really did have the mark before he's been picked up, then it can't be HRG's doing, can it?

Good point..... But then again, in almost all of Mohinder's narrations, he's talking about fate. It could simply be a character's fate to be good or bad, even though their decisions do affect it. But, I agree, it could mean any number of things.
Doesn't it seem likely that each of these "specials" were part of some sort of study or experiment by some sort of institution or company--possibly one that HRG was involved in (or even ran)?
If that's the case, the different marks could represent different programs within this experiment.
Deef, i am begining to follow that line of thinking too, may define their type of ability, like physical, mental, elemental, etc....... havent looked at each power and compared to each hero and their marks yet, just brainfarting here.I am starting to buy more into them coming from HRG, but, did he have Nathan long enough to "brand" him? Also why does nikki's fade in or out with the change, i am wondering if maybe she does switch places with Jessica from another plane or dimension????????? Time will tell, it just moves to slow right now.
Too true. Too early to speculate much. Especially with Spooky Mind-Erasey Guy running around wiping people's minds. Anything could have happened in most of these people's past. Especially The Cheerleader.

As far as the mark goes, it still has me wondering. I've always kind of had the idea that HRG's been increasing their abilities. That's why Isaac's going to suddenly be able to use his precog ability sober, after being with HRG. It's also why Matt went from a house full of cops and only hearing the voice of a little girl whispering, to being in a convenience store and hearing everybody talking to themselves all at once.
He said he had a scar AND the ink. Since we know the ink is incomplete, it probably means it's the first of more than one visit. I still think it's more than just a marker/brand, though. It probably has something to do with the progression of their control over the ability versus the strength of the ability.
I understand the theory of the tatoo maybe developing to something greater, but...my guess is that their powers might already be at the highest point. I mean how far can radioactive man go to have a full symbol at his back? He already killed someone and blew up the car from the last episode. Also..matt had a fainting heah ache when he was using his powers in the shop mart. I think it was sign of going overload.
