Yeah, doesn't look dark on my screen. Maybe I just have the gamma up way too high or something rofl. It's DL's scar on his arm from the deleted scene.
It was actually deleted from the pilot, as were ALL of DL's scenes. DL actually escapes prison three times in total. Once they find him here, passed out just outside his jail cell, once outside the actual prison passed out again, and the third and final time where he actually gets away scott-free. There's also a few scenes of him on the phone with Micah.
But this one in particular caught my eye as soon as I saw that scar on his arm.
I liked the pilot, but I'm glad they got rid of the engineer. I have a feeling it would have stirred some unnecessary feelings towards muslims and how they're portrayed on television. It would have been bad to have more muslim terrorists in the mainstream media. On the other hand, I kind of want to see where they were going to take it. There's a pretty big cliff hanger between the engineer and Matt, and I want to know what THAT would have been all about.
They basically just took him out and replaced him with Ted Sprague though. Interesting factoid: the radioactive man hasn't ALWAYS been immune to his own power. The engineer has hefty scars on his hands.
Well Payquage, from what I've come to understand, everything in moderation is good. Excess is bad.
Thus, if you're able to balance both, then you'll be in harmony. You can't completely wipe out evil, or your life will be stark, cold, and without any real agressive emotions, which can be healthy.
Conversely, you can't have a life without good, because it takes away morality, justice, and accountability. Chaos and excess abound, and life is filled with overindulgence, and corruption.
Thus, if you balance the two, there's harmony, and contentment. I'm not saying that if we go and rob a bank that we should then go and donate everything we've stolen to a charity to balance that action.. I'm just saying that in order for balance to occur, it has to be a consious choice, and not one that is made automatically.
From what my martial arts sensei used to train us, he'd say to steel your will against most of your aggressive feelings, and make sure that you judiciously monitor your actions. Human nature tends towards excess, and when unchecked, these feelings and forces can give over to total anarchy. When judiciously monitored, they represent control, mastery of self and will, and an enlightened balance of self in body, spirit and mind.
I didn't buy all of the esoteric explanations, but if some folks do, then this explanation might help point out the "balance" ideal that is being suggested..
Who knows? Maybe we'll get a couple extra Myth and Legend stories to add to this discussion in the next season!
Hi Jorm - I think you're equating aggression with evil. As you describe, aggression and anger in balance with other qualities can be useful. You do wrong when it's uncontrolled or excessive. If the opposite of aggression - passivity - is excessive, you aren't likely to do wrong, but you aren't likely to do ANYTHING, so you might fail to do good when it's needed.
By another interpretation, the opposite of aggression is compassion. It's hard to imagine having too much of that, but it can interfere with getting things done or taking action. For example, my sister is a visiting nurse for the dying. She has to be compassionate or sympathetic to their needs, but she also has to separate herself from the patient. I couldn't do her job, because I probably couldn't maintain the cool calm reassuring attitude you need when you're changing a dressing on an infected bedsore so deep that bone is exposed at the bottom. I would be cringing in sympathetic pain.
Yeah. Basically what I meant to say is that if you take everything to an extreme, bad things happen. Heck, compassion is great, and I am also of the mindset that there's not enough compassion in the world. But if everything revolved around compassion, how much would really get done for yourself? Everything needs to be tempered with another. Anger with Hope. Fear with Strength, Compassion with Ambition, etc..
I'm thinking that if your life is in balance, then what you'll find is that when trials and problems come your way, it won't seem as difficult ot overcome as someone who is unbalanced, and has problems coping with a problem specifically aimed at a lacking trait.
Maybe that's why so many rich folks aren't happy.. They're too busy with their own ambitions to really sit back and enjoy the success they've had..
I think that's why I'd make a great successful person. Once I see positive things, I tend to sit back and enjoy the success, and not press on to make that positive even better..
Either that, or I'm just a lazy procrastinating fella who just gets enough done to make a positive entry every now and then.. It's all a matter of how you want to define me!
Multiple sightings in tonight's episode. On Kensei's sword, in Molly Walker's nightmare drawings, on the ripped pictures of Kaito and Angela, and on Peter's necklace.
Well, with as many motions and pieces of paperwork that they have you fill out, I'm sure that just one law firm could take out a nice healthy chunk of forest in a couple of days....
