In this GN, we learn about Linda Tavara, the woman that went afoul of Linderman.
As we see, she was once a private detective with a bit of shady history regarding some of the marks that she was supposed to find.
As it comes about, when she finds them, they're alive and well, and brought down. However, when she doesn't find them, NOBODY seems to be able to find them. They. Just. Disappear.
Getting let go from the agency is hard on her, but a mysterious woman approaches her and asks if she'll be willing to put her talents to use in finding some "extra special" folks for her.
Linda agrees, and hunts them down. First one man, then a little girl, then another..
Finally, she calls and admits to her contact that she's unable to find one of the names. After hanging up, she meets with the bartender.. None other than the mark she's supposed to find! She hangs out at this bar until closing, and abducts the bartender. Stuffing him into the trunk, "Two for them, one for me," She says. She's got an ability! What it is, they don't say, but it does involve a blue glowing hand..
Meeting up with her contact, Linda is given her next assignment. A high-functioning special coming into Denver. However, when asked about the bartender, she denies having any knowledge of him. She claims that their data-gathering is faulty.
When the confrontation is over, her contact snatches away the portfolio, and tells Linda that they can't afford to screw up this operation, so they're going to find someone else to do the job.
Linda panics, and uses her power on her contact. Snatching up the portfolio and notebook, she then makes her way to Denver, and Mr. Daniel Linderman....
All in all, not a bad story, however, as we saw in the previous GN, Linderman is able to overcome Linda, and we assume that she was then taken out of the picture..
I'd be interested to know if she was killed, or incarcerated. After all, Linderman has ties to Primatech, so there's a good possibility that Linda Tavara was one of the "Level 5" prisoners that they'd kept hidden from the rest of the masses...
What other names were on that notebook, and who all was hunted down, and who all is still out there?
Questions, questions, questions.. |

| I liked this GN. It was at least interesting. I'm wondering what her power is though. Seems to be a Sylar like character almost with the need or desire to kill. |

Possibly Sylar's biological mother? We've still never met his father and his mother seemed awfully looney, so I wouldn't put it past the writers. Cool GN but are they actually going to tie things up or are they gonna leave the storyline hanging? My one complaint about the GN's are they try too hard to draw the readers in with cliffhangers and forget about quality stories. |

Right now, I'd just settle for some continuity with the GNs..
After all, they have started some really good stories, but have left them completely unfinished!
For now, since we're coming into the new season, I'd love to see all of the GNs leading up to the new season introduce some new plots, and a couple of characters..
That way, my interest in the new season might be restored, and I might even look forward to this new season as opposed to last season! |

| I don't think she abducted the bartender. She flat out killed him, like she did with the others. She is intrigued with Linderman because he is "high functioning". Maybe she has the ability to take a persons powers, with the side effect of killing them. |

I don't think the bartender is dead...
As for Linda's power -- maybe she's the original power sucking/life sucking vampire? Could be!!! |

Well Herc, I gotta disagree.
If the bartender wasn't dead before she was forced to kill that contact for Linderman's file, he definitely is now, thanks to Linderman killing her..
After all, there's only so much time a human being can live in the trunk of someone's car, now isn't there?? |

While I suppose it is possible that Linderman didn't kill her, I think it was fairly obvious by the bones and skull in the fire that she was indeed dead. Not to mention that he says "I thought I left the killing behind me...but it followed me home."
This tells me she was dead, so unless she is a regenerator, she probably won't be one of the "Level 5" prisoners. |

True..
But then again, there could be some part of her stored in the "Vault" Peter broke into.
Remember, these last few GNs have had something to do with the things we've seen stored in there as well, so there's the likelihood of that..
Why? I dunno.
Or it could just be filler and backstory for a character that is going to be making a reappearance this next season?
Having Linderman return would really blow my mind right now.. Especially after seeing DL dispatch him with such flair at the end of the season... |

Linda Tavera is DEFINITELY a power absorber.
In "War Buddies Part 7," Linda writes, "Just like she said. After I steal his power... no one will be able to stop me." This is the main evidence for Linda being a power abosrber.
Other supporting facts are:
1) In this novel, "Bounty Hunter," Linda said that she wanted to take something from Jason Welkes to remember him by.
2) When she killed the lady, she said: "Powers or not, she had to die."
And so I definitely agree with Masterchef in that Linda absorbs powers by draining lifeforce. I knew someone with this ability would come along eventually
Which brings me to a NEW THEORY |

Robert Atkins ,the graphic novel artist, spills a little bit of the beans he has
Yes, Linda drains the life force from those she touches when using her powers. somewhat like Rogue in X-men, when used on normal people it kills them and give her a "boost". That might mean she doesnt grow older...Im not sure about that.
when draining someone's lifeforce that has power, she would notice when draining the power. I dont know that she has any added abilities, i.e. tracking or sensing powers before draining them. I dont know if she acquire's the powers of those she touches either.
I know this Bounty Hunter GN is very much part of a larger story arch. As far as I know it is atleast 3 chapters following Linda. I can see that splitting this into 2 GN's would give us more Linda face time tracking down people, but I dont see that as necessary to plot develpment. we have a very limited space to introduce and move characters along in the larger story. If we broke it down to every beat the GN's would get very stagnate I think.
