| To kind of springboard off Popkorn's Matt Neuenberg's thread, would Sylar kill this dude if he met him (or anyone else), even though he already has that ability? Just a question as to if you think Sylar is a homicidal maniac (as he said in the vol 3 teaser), has powerlust or just takes out people who don't want their power/use it to its potential. |

| Like I said before, I think Sylar is at the point that he would kill anyone in his way. If they had an ability he had, that would make him angry and even jealous, as he has to be the supreme power source, no one else can have or deserves one of his precious abilities. |

| Well, it's not just people who don't want their power or use it to their full potential - look at Hiro. Sylar would still kill him and take his power given the chance. So yeah, I think it's powerlust, and he would take duplicate powers, e.g. Nathan's and West's. |

Sylar generally doesn't kill without necessity. Unless he's changed wildly since season one. I reckon he wouldn’t kill someone with duplicate powers unless it were for some other reason - ie standing in his way, posing a threat, possessing something he wants, etc.
Just IMO

I agree with Squeaker.
If it were someone standing in the way of his goals, or someone that had an ability that he doesn't currently have, Sylar wouldn't hesitate to kill them.
However, if he already has the ability, or if it's someone with NO ability, he doesn't kill them unless they're blocking his plans, or have proven that they're going to be major trouble for his plans down the road.
I know that he would've loved to steal Alejandro's power, but since he knew that his ability wasn't working, I don't think he bothered. The killing was because Alejandro was coming between Maya and Sylar, and he really wanted to have Maya's ability to kill with thought. It kind of mimics Ted's ability, but with more dire consequences.
After all, Sylar would have to "go nuke" in order to kill the same amount of folks that he'd be able to kill just by crying the tears of death. Much cleaner, and less chance of someone finding him by following a mushroom cloud! |

| i think he would only do it if he was under the impression that he would gain something from it... like a little more control or power of the same ability... but then again he does think people don't use the abilities like they should |

i think if it was an ability that posed a threat to him...or an ability he doesnt want someone else to have (allllll of this assuming its an ability he already has) then yes, he'd kill them but i dont think he'd cut open their head...
if he found someone with supermemory, i doubt he'd kill them, if he found someone with ted's power or TK, i think he'd kill them just so they couldnt become really "in synch" with it.. (whats a term for someone that has AWESOME control over an abilty..aka sylar's TK, claude's invisibilty, matt's dad with his power) |
