From what I recall Syler is the 1st of their kind. They all have have one of his powers and he has all of them. They are not borrowed/stolen. If anything they borrowed/stole the powers from him. I read somewhere that he was the 1st. I believe that it was on NBC.com....


It was in the 1st graphic novel that Mohinder said "His theory sent him to New York. To find his Patient Zero. The First of these people, A man called Sylar."

Mohinder also said this to his university co-worker when they were walking in the rain at the begining of the pilot. He said it very quickly and I missed it the first time I watched.
