| Here's how I think Peter gets the scar. |
PK - I was actually going to post this same theory now, but having read all the previous posts I missed, I see I can no longer do so! arrgh...... lol
I think it most definitely has to do with some body switching ability; however, there is a conundrum of sorts. If "Future Peter gets his scar from a body switch, wouldn't he know better than to make the same mistake twice? This is why I'm thinking it could be a timeline body switch thing and simply just a different scenario. (resulting in the same)
As for theories (probably season 5): Peter gains the ability to see probability and outcomes, resulting in him being unstoppable with complete control of all his powers, having no need to "paint the future" because he will access multiple powers simultaneously. |

Hmm, haven't posted here in a while, but seeing as the third season is fired up...
I think the scar is way over thought, and easily explained. Maybe someone has even mentioned it, but here's my 2 cents on the matter:
When Future Hiro mentions his "scar" when they first meet on the train, we forget that this is the first time Peter learns about Claire. You also have to remember that "Future" Peter is directly based off everything that would have happened, had Hiro not intervened and came back to that point in time and met with Peter on the train, "Save the cheerleader, save the world".
With that kept in mind, who knows what could have transpired between that moment in time and when Peter finally, by other means, met Claire and gained her ability?
When you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Sadly, over thinking anything that is so littered with plot holes as Heroes is (or is becoming) is just a waste of time. I love the show, and may even be proven wrong here, but time travel just screws everything up! =( There are way too many "what if's" for my taste.
My 2 cents, we'll see how it plays out!

I think the original scar just came from the fact that Hiro slashed Peter in order to stop him from exploding, but in that ORIGINAL timeline, Peter never had healing, which is how he got the scar.
Furthermore, in that timeline, Sylar was the one who was about to explode as well, until Hiro stabbed him, but Sylar regenerated, as Future Hiro tells us, and as shown in the GN regarding the original timeline.
This time around, the scar will still probably happen, but I think by some other means. Like I said before, it's like the 'Charlie's Death' situation - destined to happen no matter what, even if it's by some other means. |

| I agree with the previously stated fact that the infamous scar has been waaaaay overanalyzed. There's a handful of ways i can think that he gets it just off the top of my head: some horrible battle-type situation involving the Hatian, where in order to save Peter he has to nullify everyone around's powers, and by the time Pete gets them back, he's scarred; another episode of "power failure" on Peter's part, etc. etc. etc. The thing is.... the Peter from the primary timeline could never get the scar. Ever. It's a costume to differentiate "The Two Peters" for us in this season, something that was probably planned all along. My guess is we never find out how "Future Peter" got the scar, because the event will never happen. |

Actually, the impressive thing would be for F. Peter to see the scenario happen where he does get his scar, and he somehow stops the act, therefore his scar heals on his face right then and there!
I know it won't happen, but it'd be really cool to see........
At least, I think it would!
Heck, he's been messing up the timeline so much lately that a couple more screw-ups aren't going to make that much more of a difference! |
