(Grandfather? I thought it was Simone's father...)
Best guess would be that the father had some sort of power related to dreaming, and this is also probably why Peter started having prophetic dreams of flying. The dreams were a borrowed power from Simone's father.
Maybe being near several Heroes will cause Peter to become confused as to which power to use and what to do with it. It also begs the question, how quickly can he change powers, if he is near multiple Heroes? If his DNA/RNA has to reconstruct itself, how fast is that process? Could the presence of multiple Heroes turn Peter into the bomb that wipes out NYC? Is Claire needed to help Peter regenerate himself after being altered by several Heroes presence?

Anyway, when peter was with Simone's grandfather in his dream the grandfather saw it too. Where did he get this power?
I think Peter has some basic clairvoyance on top of mimicking. He mentioned in E1 that he knew when Nathan was hurt in a skiiing accident, yet Nathan was over 300 miles away.
That's interesting that Simone's father may have had the power of flight...that would explain some things. But I also think that Peter definetly has some clairvoyance.

Maybe we have Peter's power pegged wrong. (What do you think of my alliteration? lol) Maybe he isn't a mimic for mimic's sake? What if Clairvoyance, or some subset of such a power, is his main power? I'm thinking he is an empath. Peter may be mimicking because he becomes so in tune with the other person that he is able to "borrow" the power? Hmmm.
No Peter wasn't there in HIS dream. Consider this Peter's dream and Simones account of what her father told her didn't match, remember Simone said that He flew with peter, in peters dream he flew out the window alone, and Simone said that he, peter, had comforting words for her father and he said I never said that...
But after seeing Mohinders "ability" last night it would still make sense that Peter has the Mimic ability cause he was with Mohinder on the train, so maybe the dream was like Mohinders Dreams... Maybe haha
Maybe being so close to death, Simone's father's consciousness (soul?) doesn't necessarilly have to follow "the rules" (think Matrix Reloaded) & went for a little side-trip before passing/advancing/dispersing (whatever you believe, it's not important for this thread).

If Peter's power evolves and he can keep the powers that he absorbs/mimics or when all heroes meet, Peter will be the strongest hero. That is if he can absorb/mimic more than one power.
