Well, Jock, originally many of us thought it was Eden's ability of persuasion. Whenever she used it, her voice would go deep and drop a few octaves. However, the writers confirmed that this was only used a special effect to intensify the scene and that Peter's voice in Isaac's loft, as well as Sylar's voice in the Bennet home (just after he attacks Sandra), had nothing to do with abilities. |
I still say that using Eden's voice effect with Sylar and Peter without using her voice was sloppy writing on the part of TPTB. It made perfect sense for Sylar to have gotten Eden's power. She tried to prevent that but failed when she blew her brains out. And hey, maybe the bullet didn't damage her brain. Many people who try to shoot themselves end up missing the brain or the bullet takes a weird path around the skull or they shoot themselves in the jaw. Peter would have picked up that power from Sylar at their 2nd meeting.
It was fairly pointless to use the voice effect for dramatic effect when it could have - as shot - been used to show Sylar controling HRG's wife and Peter unconciously controling Isaac.
It reeks of them originally intending to give them the voice and changing their minds after the scenes had already been shot. |

*dusting off this thread*
they clearly did NOT go back and change their minds on the subject. Eden destroyed her brain and Sylar never got it from the beginning. HRG confirms it, a graphic novel came out extrapolating upon it right after the show, it makes sense story-wise that way.
However, i will agree it was a sloppy and confusing decision. |

| the voice thing does seem to be a bit pointless, but on the other hand it does add to the scene.and it also gave us something to speak about before the graphic novel came out lol |
