Super hearing is just similar to Superman's super hearing..or just the exact same thing, I mean Superman uses it when he wants to .. right ?
In superman everything was not based on the human body. superman is not human and therefore didnt need to have any of his powers relate in any way to how humans are. in heroes however the powers are for the most part built around the human brain and its massive potential. humans dont simply stop hearing when they arent trying to hear. plus neither Sylar nor Dale(ty for the name popkorn) from my perspective seemed able to simply stop using the super hearing, im fairly sure peter only abosorbed the powers from Sylar that sylar used while he was there, hence why he can use telekinesis but has yet to use super hearing, molecular vibration(what i think Zane Taylors power is), or cryokinesis.
Even when peter had no memory and was just using his powers by instinct he never exhibited ANY signs of any of these powers so i find i hard to believe he has them.
When Sylar was at Isac's place.. shaving(was going to see his mom) , then Hiro and Ando sneaked in, Sylar had super-hearing at that point.. but still didn't hear them.
Yes he did... he even said i know your there(they were hiding behinda painting) and sliced through it with telekineses. of course as he sliced through hiro teleported.

Recall - Isaacs room when Peter was arguing with Isaac. Out of nowhere, his voice wave blasted Isaac to the back of the wall. It was not telekinesis, but his voice. I believe this is an unseen power in Sylar, although we have seen how he can project his voice to sound deep and evil -which is some sort of possibly related power.

I thought it was established during season 1 that Peter had received all of Sylar's powers...even those not in use when they were together.

Komba- I'm going to have to go with Phyz on this one. At first, Sylar did not hear Hiro and Ando in Isaac's loft. As Phyz said he was shaving. He did not hear Hiro and Ando until he came out of the bathroom, so based on that scene, it's clear that Sylar can control and focus his super-hearing, as well as potentially turn it on and off.

Well, Jock, originally many of us thought it was Eden's ability of persuasion. Whenever she used it, her voice would go deep and drop a few octaves. However, the writers confirmed that this was only used a special effect to intensify the scene and that Peter's voice in Isaac's loft, as well as Sylar's voice in the Bennet home (just after he attacks Sandra), had nothing to do with abilities.
Peter should have all of the powers that sylar stole during his mad killing spree.
The reason I belive why we don't initially know this is because Peter either isn't aware of what he can do, after being in the presence of sylar or he just hasn't found a reason to use them yet. We know he can select to use what ever power he wants, as Claude taught him this. But Claude made him realise that he needs to think of the person who either has or had the ability, to be able to use it. In other words he must be able to think of Zane Taylor for example to be able to use his power of Liquification, the problem with this as we all know is the fact that Peter has never met Zane Taylor. Which means he can't really use this power.

However, Hammer, in order for Peter to use liquification, he would only have to see Sylar using the ability, not Zane. Sylar obtained TK from Brian Davis, and Peter saw Sylar use TK, which is why Peter is able to use it (because he can recall his memory of Sylar even though Peter never met Brian Davis).
I agree that Peter has all of Sylar's powers (the writers confirmed this last year, but they could of course change their minds again). I, too, think that Peter just has to see Sylar use those powers in order to use them himself.
Peter seeing the powers would help, but is not required. The reason Peter is not livin' it up with all of Sylar's powers right now is that he has not activated them inside himself yet; the powers are accessible but they need either conscious effort or instinctual response to get their start, which is made difficult by the fact that Peter has no idea where they are inside himself or that he has them at all. What Peter really needs is a sit down with a person who has seen a ton of powers, and try to find them within himself. The fact that this would make Peter too powerful is what prevents it from happening on the show. Only TV keeps Peter's power in check, it is his kryptonite.
Sylar- [shows Peter a TV]
Peter- No, get it away... I'm feeling...weak and...stupid...
Peter wouldn't need to see the powers being used at all - I believe that it is his emotions (or an instinctual response, as you've mentioned) that would enable him to access new powers (just like in "Lizards," more specifically with DL's power and Peter phasing through the rope). Peter was desperate and probably thinking to himself, "I gotta get my hands out," at which point he phased.
But of course, then you have the plot hole in "Four Months Ago" when Peter knew he possessed phasing but never saw DL use it himself, which made absolutely no sense (IMO, the biggest plot hole thus far in the Heroes universe). Let's hope the writers can pull it off better when they return from their striking hiatus ~le sigh~

peter doesnt need to kno that he can do it, he dont even need to know that hes been near someone that can do it, he just need to be near them.......they are all there stored in theback of his mind waiting for a situatio where they can brak out.......remember at the start of season 2 when he used elle's electric.......he didnt know he could do anything, not even who he was. but it wasstored in the back of his mind and he neded to do it and that triggered an emotional responce, hence his power being trigggered by empathy

I completely agree with you - it was by FAR the biggest plothole in Heroes thus far (and it wasn't just a small plothole - it was gaping wide open like a bottomless black hole in outer space, lol). The writers really messed up in "Four Months Ago" when they revealed that Peter (and Adam) both knew Peter possessed phasing. If they left that conversation out of the show, and somehow just got Peter to 'accidentally' walk through the wall, that would have taken care of the phasing issue completely! Instead, they had to go and make a mess of the Season 2 storyline.
It was fine for Peter to use phasing in "Lizards," because at that moment, he was in a fight or flight mentality. He knew he had to get out of the rope, and though his mind didn't know he could phase, his body did. I completely agree that his powers are triggered by the empathic aspect of his mimicry - Peter's powers are based on emotion. When Claude was beating the poop out of him with the stick back in "Unexpected," Peter probably felt the same way that he did when Sylar attacked him in Odessa - in both situations Peter was backed into a corner. In Odessa, he absorbed TK while being backed into a corner, and on the roof, he used TK while being backed into a corner again. The same emotional feeling was present, thus it is why his body recalled TK in my opinion.
Peter was in NY , ireland, the cell, and several other areas. Maybe kring is right about peter having alot powers. Kring suggested that if peter sat down with Mohinder, he would learn what powers he has.
Sylar is still a mystery. Did he really kill two of the old founders or are they just listed as dead to hide from the company?
GN really need to answer some of the answer if origins is not coming out.
