Novel 33 - "The Death of Hana Gittleman, Part 1"
Easter Egg - a promo shot of Peter and Claire from Ep. 21
Heaven is filled with mechanical angels - they know how we live, and they know how we die.
Hana is waiting for Bennet, Sprague, and Parkman at a playground somewhere between Texas and New York. She is sick of taking orders. Bennet claims he's just trying to get their lives back to normal. "My life has never been normal and never will be, thanks to you," she tells him, gun aimed at his head. Time for some bright intervention - Ted threatens to melt the bullets, melt the guns, melt Hana, if she doesn't calm down and listen to Bennet.
There are two tracking systems - She needs to take care of the one that tracks the Heroes who have been injected with the Isotopes. Where is it? Look up. "A satellite? You think I can crash a satellite?"
Flashback to the previous year - Hana and Bennet are near the top of the world. She's having a hard time climbing, she thinks it's physical. "It's not your body, you're in perfect physical condition - it's your ability," he tells her. Away from any distractions, the data buzzes around like flies - and Hana is the fly paper. She has an overload - the media blames the service disruption on magnetic activity.
Back to the present - Hana accepts the mission and sets off to destroy the satellite, but not without what they call in Tel Aviv an "end of the world party".
After a night of dancing, drinking, and living, Hana heads off to a place she knows she can talk to the encrypted satellite. She looks out at a rocket, ready to attempt her mission, before being apprehended by five Chinese officers.... "This is not how I expected to die."

Why would they kill Hana in a Graphic Novel?
Then again, they introduced her in a Graphic Novel.....
Then again, some of the other characters (like Papa Petrelli) we know more about through the Graphic Novels than the TV show itself, so, maybe it's not such a stretch.
I just wish, they didn't have to kill her....... |

It's always possible that the title is metaphorical. Those Chinese officers might not kill her, she might escape. Perhaps we'll see the death of Hana Gitleman, and the birth of Wireless |

Maybe it's titled this way because:
a) She's planning to get in a Chinese rocket to go into outer space to get close to the satellite to mess with it.
AND
b) She does not expect to return from that mission.
SO
c) She expects to DIE.
This is why at the conclusion of Part 1 she says:
"This is not the way I expected to die".
I mean, in the North Pole, she could track all WIRELESS communications. In outer space? She could probably control them... BUT how would she survive? |

| I hope she doesn't die. I've found myself rather liking her character. I think/hope the title is purposely misleading. And as a side note, the artist this week did an amazing job; I'd have to say this is the best drawn novel yet! |

I'm going to have to agree - the art was done by Jason Badower, who was also responsible for "Road Kill" and "War Buddies" parts 4 and 5.
As an aside, Jason ran a design contest when looking for something for Hana to wear:

Congrats on the dress fame Burn!
I'm of this thought:
What if Hana dies physically, but maintains herself Electronically?
She truly becomes Wireless. The hero inside the machine!
Thoughts? |

| Thanks Jorm - I was thinking something along those lines, too.... hm.... I'd really like to see Hana back in S2, though. She really brings a whole different dimension to the cast. Niki is whiny, Jessica ruthless, and Claire is just Claire... Hana is pretty kick butt. lol. |

| I get the feeling that Hana is is an online-only hero (shes a hero for the fans that go online an stuff). Out of the entire Heroes season she has like 3 scenes (a meeting with Ted in the desert, and a meeting with Matt and Ted at the cemetery, and in "5 years gone"). She has no other connection with any other charecter besides Bennet, Ted, and Matt. She was born by graphic novel, she will die by graphic novel. |

Would be an interesting concept.
Knowing that she's on the shuttle, they'd have military waiting for her on the return trip if she DID actually make it onto the shuttle and into space. She'd know and expect to get into some serious trouble there. So, I wonder if it would be possible to upload her consciousness into the satellite network, start some kind of countdown for a self-destruct sequence, and then move into a grounded circuitry system that would allow for total "wireless" movement.
And she wanted a normal life. Pffft. |

Congrats from me too Acidburn! Way to go!
And I agree, I'd like to see Hana live on. Maybe Wireless, truly lives on in the end, wirelessly? I dunno.... |
