Hana has successfully retrieved the file she was sent to discover. It contains military men, renamed with the names of cities in Texas. Their mission is to make a downed airplane disappear, as it was not supposed to be in the area where it was shot down.
The men are headed down a river on a gunboat. They were not to bring any personal effects, yet the medic brought a book. The others discover it and banter ideas about what they should do about his violation of orders.
The man renamed Dallas shows that medic that he too had a personal item..a letter from his family. just then a bullet rips through his chest as the Viet Cong had discovered their position. A massive gunfight ensues.
All the men die except Dallas and the medic. Dallas is bleeding profusely. Austin, the medic, places his hands over the wound and heals Dallas. Dallas freaks out asking Austin, "What did you do?". He laments that at least he understands the enemy, but not the power he saw Austin use.
to be continued...
The Easter Egg is an overhead photo of Isaac's apartment.
I'm guessing the "Dallas" is HRG's boss (don't remember his name) and that "Austin" was his first encounter with a hero, one that was able to heal others. I wonder if we will see this hero anymore. Also, as a side note I think it is interesting that all of the men in this graphic novel are named after cities in Texas and that the Primatech Paper company is based in Texas. Wonder if there is any kind of Texas connection here or something.
I have to say that I've seen plenty of speculation over who these two are. Mr. Petrelli and Linderman, Linderman and Thompson, Thompson and Petrelli, ad nauseum.
I don't see any real connection just yet, so I'm reserving my judgement as to who is portraying whom here. I'd love to see a healer on Heroes, I just have to agree with Payquage who posted in a different thread that the power would be mostly wasted on someone like Linderman. Thompson _could_ be that person, but then why would he be hunting others so voraciously? After all, as a healer, you'd think he'd want them to go on with their lives as normal.
I'm thinking that if this is portraying anyone, it's showing Thompson being healed by an undisclosed hero. At this juncture in time, Thompson isn't working for the company, but it gives him a reason to mistrust someone with an unexplainable power. Even if that power saved his life, he mistrusts this ability, and has to have it explained. When the company comes calling and asks him to track down and catch these powerful persons, he agrees to do this. His first target? Why none other than the medic who first saved his life back in Vietnam!
Anyway, I digress. Quite a few options are opening up here for further storylines, and I'd love to see where the writers are taking us now!
How plausible is it that it's Mr. Petrelli? After all, we never saw his face at all. It could very well be someone we haven't seen yet. It could also be Linderman, and it could be Thompson, or it could be someone completely different that we haven't met yet!
Too much information, and not enough at the same time.. Need to wait before jumping to conclusions..

Get the series back on the air! We need Heroes!
Healer = Papa Patrelli... they go out of their way to make him look like Peter.
Dallas ... could be Thompson... but HRG would be too young. I have a hard time believing its Linderman (British in American army in Vietnam) They also talk about Dallas having a kid, Thompson hasn't seemed like a family man, neither does Linderman.
Yah, Bennet would have been 6 at the time of War Buddies. Thompson I'm putting about the same age as Bennet. .
Let's look at the evidence.
First we have Dallas, a family man and all-round, all-american good-guy and soldier, whose first child is taking his first steps in November 1968. Most kids start walking at about a year old, so we can say this kid is about 39 in November 2006.
What's the average age of a newly-elected congressman? About 40?
I think it's pretty definite that Dallas is Petrelli Sr.
Next we have Austin, young (like most draftees in Vietnam), probably around 19 years old, bit of a loner, no family, whose cherished possession appears to be a book...
He's a healer. He saves Dallas' life. Something like that builds a bond between two people.
Now, given that we know nothing at all about Petrelli Sr. and Linderman, OTHER than that they have a long-standing connection to each other.
So, why waste an ability as powerful as that on Linderman? Why not? Does the ape choose to be born an ape? The man, to be born a man?
War is hell. I'm sure all your fathers and grandfathers will confirm that. It does things to a man's mind.....especially a conflict like Vietnam.
Let's face it, they've been pretty good at using the graphic novels for backstories so far, and Petrelli and Linderman really NEED some backstory at the moment.....
It just makes a whole helluvva lotta sense to me!
If you're in any doubt - match the hair colour to the name. I know it's circumstantial, but if you add it all together, I think it's convincing enough.
Petrelli clan - Mediterranean descent - Dark hair
Dallas - Dark hair
Linderman - Light, fine white hair - indicative of someone who had blonde or mousy hair in their youth.
Austin - blonde or mousy hair.
Actually Slippy.. I don't think the writers are needing the backstory as much as you are. Mr Timeline!
I'd have to say the argument is convincing, however, given the volitile nature of genetics, you can't undoubtedly state that A=B because C looks like A type of argument.
After all, how many times do two brown-eyed parents have a blue-eyed child? Or a blonde and a brunette have a red-haired child? Genetics has it's own set of rules, so just because it looks familiar doesn't mean that it's going to follow a set pattern because we want it to look like that..
