He kinda shows up randomly... sometimes he'll be in Doctor Strange, and sometimes he'll be in Black Panther. Lately, I've seen him almost exclusivly in Black Panther, but he's really not a hugely popular character.
Don't give up , Slippy. I believe that either Kring or Loeb referred to Niki's super-strength only coming out when Jessica was in control, in the same manner as Isaac believing he needed drugs to paint the future. We are led to believe that Niki has the power as well (Niki snapped the guard's baton) and just happens to be dealing with a dual personality.
Gah, this all goes back to Tim Kring being a total noob to comics, and Jeph Loeb being an absolute genious. I bet they butt heads alot about characterization...
In his defense, it may be that the character is taken from Brother Blood, but if he admits it then you are talking about infringement and lawsuits. So, he said the safe and most understandable thing possible to non-comic book fanatics... Jekell and Hyde. That is a safe answer because most people know who that is and there is no fear of lawsuits. And the fact that he is not a hugely popular character adds to the fact that hardly anyone would put the two together. Of course the similarities between with the tattoos makes it more than coincidental. Maybe point it out to DC Comics, get a lil money out of it, and maybe they will have to kill her off (which is a plus in my book!).
Personally, if she is like Brother Blood and can possess people, then that would be better than J&H.
Instead of Jessica possessing Niki, I'd say it's rather Niki "opening up" to Jessica.
Maybe after all she's just a "medium", able to embody souls and powers of the deceased. Jessica being her dead twin (?) sister with I suppose a super-human reflex+strength.
Since she was her sister the emotional attachment makes it quite hard to "let go" and control the impulses.
Sounds more like a power than just being "possessed" by something. After all, she does have the tattoo on her, indicating an ability.
I can't stop to think that Peter meeting Niki will "open his spiritual channels" and make him possessed by some odd dead person - why not Isaac? ahahaha - to make him actually blow NY? o_O
That would explain the whole "WTF I BLEW UP NY?!" attitude Peter shown in the previews. The same happened with Niki after a "possession".Not remembering and all that mumbo-jumbo.
The latest on N/J .. I think this came from a voiceover, but N/J is described as "a woman who has had to split her soul in two to protect her son"
Damnit if that doesn't fit better with my original thinking! Okay, I'm back on track again!
I'm going back to "there's no indication of Nikki's Jessica personality being ANYTHING other than a function of mind. Niki's power is superstrength, Jessica is nothing more than a psychosis"
The more I see, hear, and think about Niki/Jessica, the less I'm inclined towards the supernatural possession theory I once held so close. Maybe she is just crazy!!
Thank you, Slippy, for that warm welcome. You know that I was one of the biggest supporters of the possession theory; but the more I see of the character, and the more I think about it, I'm with you all that the witch is just crazy. It may not be as fun an idea, but it's the logical assumption.
Posted: Wed Jul 25, 2007 12:57 am Post subject: Sci-Fi Weekly News about Niki/Jessica
At the end of Season One we were treated to the re-integration of the Niki/Jessica personality...or where we? Was it a split personality? Was it possesion?
I know the debate has flowed back and forth, but here is a bit of news from Sci-Fi Weekly (July 23rd edition):
Ali Larter, who plays the dual-personality Jessica/Niki on NBC'stuff Heroes, told SCI FI Wire to expect her character to channel another popular kick-ass female hero in the coming second season. "I've heard a little bit," Larter said about the upcoming arc for her character. "A little La Femme Nikita. ... I'm happy about most things they give me on the show."
Larter referred to the hit 1990s spy series starring Peta Wilson and the Luc Besson movie on which it was based, centering on a woman who is trained and deployed as a top-secret government assassin against her will. Larter spoke in an interview at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif., on July 17.
What? Does that mean, another personality will emerge? One that is not Jessica? Ah.....I am lost....
I agree that it was just a figure of speech. In my opinion, all she was saying was that she will become a kick ass, la femme nikita" as in that is what is in store for HER character.
Makes sense if DL dies, she gains control of her super-strength, and Micah needs a surrogate mom. Means that N/J is off kicking some butt.... potentially leading to her imprisonment (ala FYG, kinda).
