Just because she's posessed of one being doesn't mean that she can't be posessed by a second or even a third. There have been documented instances of multiple demonic posessions before. Thus, my theory about supernatural posession isn't that far off base just yet.
Physical magic and metaphysical magic are just two different extensions of how power is used. Physical magic affects time and space. How we are able to communicate how something is done.
Metaphysical magic actually bends and outright breaks the time and space barrier. This power is used to create and punch holes in the rules that we so strongly hold onto.
I'm not saying that they're using metaphysical magic in the show, but I _am_ saying that physical magic is being used to explain some powers since our laws and rules for their powers are severely lacking in terms of an explanation.
i personally think that as Nikki gets more control of her powers they will expand in a completely different direction and she may even suprise us all!!
Come over to my side. My wushu is WAY better than their wushu! It comes with extra hoy-sin.
Anyway, just to clarify, I shall stop saying "magic" and start saying "bad physics".
Since I personally do not accept the existence of "metaphysical magic " in the real world, my thinking is somewhat biased against it, even in a fictional setting. If that clouds my judgement, then so be it.
If and when the "beyond the veil" type of magic appears in the show, I shall be perfectly happy to start theorising on the subject...until then, I'll always fall down on the side that has some kind of basis in physical fact...even if the concepts are twisted a little to fit the heroes universe.
Did I just get deja vu, or have I already said that? Damn, I'm wasted!
I tend to agree with you Slippy. However, I do try to keep an open mind to most things, that's why I'm able to enjoy fiction like the Dresden Files, and such. Because I don't have to have scientific facts set out before me to enjoy a show. However, being able to explain how a power is able to function or be used, that's something that I also enjoy, as then I have a goal to be able to prove and recreate! If I can recreate that effect, then I can enjoy that same power IRL, instead of dealing with watching the shows that someone actually fantasizes about..
Not do cast any shadow over your creative ability Slip. I'm just detaliling how I tend to process info
I think this is not a case of posession. It is a dual personality hero.
Jessica seems to have super strength, able to press around 1000 pounds.
She must also have heightened reflexes due to a kind of adrenalin surge.
Find the video with Part 3 of the Wizard World Q&A panel.
When asked about Niki Jessica....Loeb talks about the psychological aspects of Jessica....in that she is a personality, based on a real person, but created by Niki as a method of dealing with "what needs to be done". He then says "if you WANT to get all heeby jeeby, you could say she's possessed by the spirit of Jessica" but Tim Kring stops him and says he sees it (and we should look at it) as more of a "Jekyll and Hyde" thing.
Make of it what you will, although I really think we can put the "posession" aspect of it to bed now, although I'm sure some of you will keep fighting your corner until Niki and Jessica are both resolved. I know I would! .
So we've got the creator with one idea, and a director with something else. Thus, a blending of the two?
A Jekyll and Hyde possession? Heh, there's a picture for you.
I'm still standing by my theory, as the director sees it like that. However, I'll give you a for finding what Tim thinks Nikki/Jessica is all about Slippy!
"He can also send Daniel forth to possess and control other bodies."
So maybe Jessica will be possessing more people in the future? The possibilities are endless...

Gah, this all goes back to Tim Kring being a total noob to comics, and Jeph Loeb being an absolute genious. I bet they butt heads alot about characterization...
