NBC is the soulless corp. ".org" means it's for the comunity. not for Nissan or it's silly ass Versa. Or for whoever the frak wants to sell thier stuff to us.

Good thing nothing is being sold here. It's a giveaway for doing something that promotes the site and should be fun. This "ad" is for those who want to participate. The rest can ignore it. It's not in your face or changing the site.
Although the "original and creative" requirements are certainly a shame, as my avatar would win hands down. I mean just look at him, he's boss.
Keep in mind, DJ, that if it wasn't for the Nissan Versa, or Coca-Cola, or whatever else NBC wants to sling at us, we wouldn't be watching shows such as Heroes. And I know there are at least a few of us who have PVR/DVRs that allows us to, however limitedly, skip commercials. So advertisers have to do what they can to get thier product to consumers, such as heavy product placement. If these systems weren't in place, we'd be stuck with just PBS. And honestly, when's the last time you saw anything on PBS that was remotely interesting that wasn't a documentary?
Okay, Doctor Who reruns... but what else?
And as far as the contest goes: if you don't want to participate, don't. If you don't want to see the ads, over look them. But the ADMIN has to pay for this space somehow.

Holy cow. That is a bit of an overstatment don't you think? Free sites are only free to the users not the people who run it. Plus this isn't costing you any money, just offering you a chance to get some cool stuff for doing something you'll probably enjoy doing. What's wrong with that?
If a sponser wants to give us their cool gadgets for drawing an avatar why should we complain?

Wow. Your right. The owner of the site (not me FYI) went throught the trouble of finding a vendor willing to give away free stuff and then....tried to give it away. He realy is an ass, I've seen the error of my ways.
