I'm not feeling the papa petrelli thing. that would mean that there aren't 9 left. and that makes the whole thing completely pointless. And, when they described Nathan's story before the season started they said he already had his bad streak, and that we would see him have to repent for the things he's done in S1. I don't think making a deal with WTTB and killing 7 others was the writers' idea of repentance.
Why would it make it completely pointless? There's still 12 founders. If anything I would think it would reopen the possibility of the killer and WTTB being two different people and both part of the original 12. Patrelli being alive would make nine left now with seven remaining paintings. I think the nine remaining is less important than the original number of twelve.
Repenting could mean assisting in the elimination of those who are/were evil, two of whom are Kaito and Angela who have each admitted (Kaito out loud and Angela in her head) that they have done very bad things that someone wants revenge for. There is still a lot of obscurity regarding good and evil as it pertains to several characters...
You may be right, I'm just not convinced I'm wrong beyond doubt yet
Sorry, there is something in me that doesn't buy the Nathan redemption yet.
And where is that quote from the writers where supposedly the bad streak he had is ended? I need to see that.
Unless there is a quote, I'll venture to say being as drunk/depressed about what he's done, he might not consider what he's doing (if he is doing anything) bad. He more performs what he rightfully thinks is justice. Which if when we know more about everything and see the overall picture, it might be a good thing taking down the organization (or whoever)
I don't really care. I KNOW the article is there, the one where it said the petrelli brothers' story is far from over. I didn't just make it up. It's not my job to scour the internet for you. In fact I believe it was the last Behind the Eclipse before season 2, that or the monthly comic con update mag a month before comic con, in which the cover was the picture of Hiro with the dinosaur and it was an interview with Tim Kring.
And I never said his bad streak ended. The article said "Nathan had HIS bad streak." Now in your close-minded way, you can interpret that so that it seems like Nathan is still a bad guy. But I took it as his bad streak was over. The quote was found on these forums anyways, and not by me. So, now that Nathan saved the world, you STILL think he's a bad guy?
Plus, they still never said the old group was evil. They may have done some morally grey things, but it has not been confirmed. If that was the case, then HRG is a bad guy still. So, offing them wouldn't necessarily mean that he did anything good.
And too bad the nine remaining ISN'T more important than the original 12. There have been many numerous times where they said the number 9 will play a huge part in season 2. And why would we have to "reopen" the possibility of there being two killers. Most people already think that.
Also, some people are in your line of thinking over at 9th wonders. But take a look at what they've dug up. And pay close attention to the picture. I seriously doubt Nathan at this point:
Throttle back on the hostility a bit there Alucard!
Differing opinions might be a bit bothersome, but don't take it out on someone to express their opinion, ok?
I agree. Nathan's bad streak isn't quite over, in my eyes. I can see him still pulling a couple of stupid stunts, and getting into a nice little mess. However, I don't see him wallowing in self-pity too much longer.
Didn't someone say on this thread that he's divorced? When did this happen? In the time from Kirby Plaza to now? For a divorce from a high-profile fella like Nathan, that's quite an accomplishment. Most divorces take at least a year to finalize, much less finish!
Anyway, I'd say that there's something more here we're missing, but I'll bet that the story is going to flush out a bit more in 3 & 4. After all, once episode 4 is over, we should have the basics of the story, and everything from there will be full speed ahead story!

In my opinion, with few exceptions it's hard to classify too many of the characters as purely good or evil. Nathan's 'redemption' doesn't necessarily imply 'good' acts. He could just be doing what he subjectively thinks is just.

Kaito and Angela have both said that in so many words. Kaito referenced the people they've killed. Hardly morally gray.

I'm curious about the use of "numerous" and "huge part". And I never said it "had" to be reopened. Many people were dismissing that because if there were nine left with 8 paintings it implied one killer. In this scenario it's easier to entertain other possibilities. That's all.
Everything I said here, and above, is just my opinion. Just food for thought before you try and apply different tones and wording to peoples posts to support your OPINION.
As for Nathan, I don't know if we've received confirmation that he's actually divorced, but he and Heidi are at least separated. Angela said as much in "Four Months Later," in Peter's apartment.

I know. I'm one to talk. But two people have mentioned it now and I think it's time one of us few moderators stepped in. Cool it down or I'll do something really horrible to one of you. I'm not sure which one, or what I'll do.... but I'll do it. I swear. Less caps, less hostility, more happy family atmosphere. We're on the Associated Press now We don't want people thinking we're homicidal maniacs here. Not at first, anyway.
