| I guess I still don't understand what changed in the Timeline so that Nathan made the decision that averted the Five Years Gone scenario. |

| First they saved the cheerleader, then hiro went to the future and came back and told nathan that he would become a bad person, that coupled with the fact they had saved the cheerleader worked in conjunction to change nathan's mind about leaving NYC. So, instead of leaving and blaming the explosion on Sylar, he saved peter and sacrificed himself. |

No, the cheerleader had already been saved in the Five Years Gone scenario, so that remained the same.
So the only difference was that Hiro told Nathan he'd become a bad person. I guess that makes sense, but I'm a little surprised that there wasn't even a veiled reference to that in the finale. |
