I was just thinking that there may be a correlation between the Heroes emotions and their Hero skills. I think that there are three different types of Heroes.
Ones that use their powers with no emotional attachment. Meaning that they can use their powers without feeling anything, just pure skill, to get them working. However if emotions come into play they can be hindered.
Then there are the other Heroes that need the emotional charge to get their powers going. So with out an emotional charge they can not make the power work. The following are examples that I can think of.
The last is what I would call the Super Power Super heroes. These are characters that can use their powers naturally.
Skill driven power:
Hiro: At the beginning of the season Hiro was playing around with his powers and he could do it. As the first few episodes went he built up his powers. He saw what he needed to do to get to the next step through the comic. Such as saving the girl from being hit. It was something that he had to do according to the comic. But as we move further along Hiro gets emotionally involved in a few situations where he is trying to hard and can't get his powers to work. As he moves along from here he doubts himself which them prevents him from being able to use his powers because he is emotionally charged. If you think back to when he met Peter on the subway he was a very different character, cold and unfeeling.
The Haitian: He seems to have no emotions what so ever. It seems to me that he is a matter of fact person. He is there to get the job done.
Issac: When he was on drugs he could use his skills because he was just plain stoned. But when he was not on drugs he was stressed out and could not perform. I think that Eden helped him somehow and now he seems to be very matter of fact and can use his powers at the flip of a switch. I think that you see the change on the roof with Simone. He seems very disconnected from her and a totally different person from the beginning of the season.
Emotionally charged Heroes
Peter: It has been proved that he needs to remember the feeling that he had with the character that he acquired the power from in order to use it. When he tried to hard and just thinks about the power he can't do it.
Nikki/Jessica: Obvious! If one side feels really strong about something it comes out. Jessica seems to have more control over the power because she is so pissed all the time. Nikki needs to feel happy and content in order to user her power, shich she has not realized yet. But I think that with some more training she will get it.
Nathan: Although there is very little to support this I think that he needs to have that emotional charge to get it working. Although it may not have to be all that strong. The times that we have seen him fly were emotional times for him. The first was to save Peter. And the second was to save himself from HRG and the Haitian. I think that he will be able to control his powers soon without the emotional support.
Super Power Super Heroes
Claire: I think that because she is a teen coming into her power she is better suited to control her power with or without emotions. They just come natural all skill. This may be because she is a Super Power Super Hero because both her parents have powers.
Micha: I think that he is in the same boat as Claire. He is a Super Power Super Hero because his parents both have powers. He seems to be able to use his powers no matter the situation.
Sylar: I am a little torn with Sylar. I think that he may be a Super Power Super Hero but then I think that he may be Skills only. We don't know to much about his past but to me it looks as though he can use his own power all the time to see what is broken. And then use whatever power he has acquired at the flip of a switch. But he also looks to have little to no emotions. I think that we may find that he is the offspring of two Heroes, and that he was adopted by his parents. Maybe Linderman and another female hero were his parents. This is a little far fetched but a theory.
Let me know what you think about this insanity!!!! |
