Note that I said its ironic that he is "A" cure and not "THE" cure. I realized they were two different things.
And even if Mohinder was already 2 years old, that doesnt mean that his dad couldnt have thought of the cure being mohinder after Shanti died, either way the theory works.

I don't think it attacks all mutants. The OWI takes extensive samples from everyone they bag, and Thompson said there were only two recorded cases in history.
But, OWI has not bagged and tagged everyone,

makes you wonder what Shanti's power was/is......?
I'm saying that it's not "a byproduct of being a mutant." There are too many older metas for a disease that kills you when you're that young.
I've thought about it, and I don't think that Shanti had a power. The original Dr. Suresh had plenty of her blood samples and was able to genetically track mutants. I think he or Mohinder would have found out.
But didn't Mohinder's mom tell him that she did have an ability??
Thought, question...do you think they have yet had....oh wait...nevermind...I just answered my own thought (just to share what it was....had the chance to check out and test Micah yet...but if he had the virus, he wouldn't be able to use his powers...then again, if it's in it's early stages.......)
Micah, Shanti, and Molly are the only 3 children that we've seen yet with abilities, correct?

I just went back and watched some clips from Seven Minutes to Midnight; here's the dialog:
Mama Suresh: Her name was Shanti. She was five years old when she died, two years after you were born.
(why didn't I know? it was too painful to talk about, daddy loved her more than you...)
Mama Suresh, cont'd: From the moment she was born, he was convinced that she was special. And she was special.
[/dialog]
Chandra wouldn't have known, from her birth, that she was a meta; I think it was her illness that goaded him into genetics (someone else can find that quote, if it exists). And Mama Suresh not defining "special" leaves a lot of room for future development; she could be either special (meta) or special (she didn't cry, she handled her death better than a five year old should be able to, her poop didn't stink, etc). So, this leads me to absolutely no conclusions.
And, from Homecoming:
Mohinder: He did it, you know. He discovered them. His theory was right.
Mama: And that is good news, yes?
Mo: Why didn't he tell me?
Mama: He wanted you to live your own life. So, now that you know about them, what will you do?
Mo: Find them, warn them, save the world, blah blah blah.
[/more dialog]
Chandra's theory was that, a theory. He wouldn't know that Shanti had a power without knowing what it was (they're pretty self-evident), and if he had proof he wouldn't have had just a theory, and he wouldn't have been looking for Patient Zero. So now, does Mama Suresh believe in Chandra's theory because she had proof, or because she believed the scientific theories he laid out?
This once again leaves me with no definite conclusions, but simply because I want *someone* on this show to stay dead, I'm going to stick with her not having any powers. You can hide "a series of mind-numbing coincidences" behind "destiny" as much as you want, but this show is turning into a soap opera.
And I really wish MythTV hadn't deleted all my episodes but the last two. I hate going through all the commercials at NBC.
Also, Superboot, I think that you got the three children. At first I thought Micah was a few years older than Molly, but Noah Gray-Cabey (Micah) is 11, while Aidar Tishler (Molly) is 10. Micah definitely acts older, while I see Molly as the cute little kid . There goes thinking that it affects all young metas. But... both of the diagnosed were female, while the antibodies were found in a male. Maybe a Y chromosome increases your chance of survival somehow. (yay BS theories that I know are going nowhere! I suck at genetics. Where's Payquage?)
Edit: Other children, in FYG: the boy that sucked the oxygen out of his school, and the boy whose family HRG was trying to hide
I've skipped over some posts (meaning haven't read them) but I did so to post this.
It was mentioned that Molly's sickness blocked her powers, so theoretically, couldn't they take that virus and manipulate it so it would block the powers of anyone it was injected into without killing them?
Not sure if it would work on all specials or just ones with certain powers like Molly's.
Also, after watching this episode I definitely think I should have taken dibs on the "Molly's power is to detect other specials" thing.
What confuses me is how she can kill Sylar. They make it sound like it can be used like Professor X's power where he can track down mutants, and with some concentration, kill them too.
Here is my second idea on this forum (first one was to guess Molly's power and I got it right).
What if 90% humans on earth have super powers, but for a long time in history this virus stopped it from developing. Now in our current time our bodies are begining to overcome this virus and people are popping up everywhere with powers. In 5 years past it is even more obvious that people are beginning to freak out from more and more people having powers. Genetics has a huge play in this in that it appears that all the heroes parents, siblings, uncle, someone directly related to almost all them have powers too. Hence that the virus weakness is also hereditary.
The other 9% have a form of this virus that is deadly Mohinder's sister and Molly.
Mohinder has the 1% kind that actually kills this virus and in essence allowing powers to activate.
Just my thought and Ideas, Great ideas and research being done on these shows.
This can be used in so many different ways in Heroes Generations (or season 2) that the story line is endless. Mutations in the virus create uhber heroes and predators like Peter=Uhber and Sylar=predator of other heroes.
This is a wild idea I know but maybe some kind of variation can be used.
To be quite honest.... these people sort of having passive not very stand out abilities because... if you look at sylar... his abilities similar to them... because he don't actually own a stand out power and he true power it's extremely good at figure things out.... it's more like a gift.... but then again abilities are range from powerful to very weak... i'm sure there people who out there thinks they are normal, but they actually have gifts which give them a better edge... people who immune to some virus, people who has faster reflexes and etc. those are very passive... compare to clarie for healing... that sort of too extreme

Of course, that's not to say that something similar has not been done before.
Basically, a similar premise as you're proposing done a little different (not a virus, but a vast interstellar force field). And there are no superpowers involved, but highly involved intelligences for humans and really ALL animals. There is some TK and such (I think).
BUT, as you're suggesting, the story ideas that can be generated are endless from this premise....

Methinks he can see past events, as he's done it before (with the kid, and his father and Shanti). Also, Peter, in the season finale, goes into the 'past' and moves around as if he's invisible like Mohinder did.
