But I think that was the point, Pops. Matt didn't have to use his power (beyond getting Maury inside the nightmare world, I mean).
When Maury was faced with his own fear, his control on the nightmare world slipped, allowing Matt and Molly to escape. It wasn't Matt's effort that saved them, it was Maury's weakness.
In other words, it was psychology, not psionics, that defeated Maury. |

| I still think it's ridiculous that Molly said Maury is worse than Sylar, the man who killed her parents. That goes into the gaping plot hole file, I guess. |

Sylar killed her parents. Any normal person could do that. Sure, it will give her nightmares, but she can wake from them.
Maury can actually enter her mind. He can give her nightmares from which she can't wake. He could make her relive the murder of her parents again and again and again. He is entering her mind without her permission. He is violating her. I liken his ability to that of mind rape. To me, rape is worse than murder, as you still leave the lasting psychological effects on the family, but you also completely destroy the victim, but they still have to go on living.
I think Maury is worse than Sylar, at least based on the interactions they have had with Molly. |

At first, I really didn't know what to think of Maury (from episodes 1-4 of Season 2).
Then we saw episodes 5 and 6, and was still a little torn, but overall I didn't think that he could possibly be worse then Sylar.
After seeing "Out of Time," I have come to a full-realization about Maury's power and not only how dangerous it could be, but also why Molly considers him worse than Sylar. At least she can physically get away from Sylar. She can't mentally get away from Maury, which in turn affects her physically. Sylar murdered her parents, but as Hatcher has said, Maury can constantly have Sylar chasing her in her mind reliving the terror she experienced on that day, as we have seen in the Graphic Novel. Sylar has temporarily moved on from wanting to harm Molly. Maury has not. |
