I posted this in another thread, but thought maybe it deserved it's own thread since it's sort of a theory all to itself:

I'm starting to lean more and more to there being several characters that can somehow absorb powers. I think it's clear from spoilers and the show that Kensai and WTTBM both most likely have more than one power, and I think both are immortal (unless killed by unnatural means somehow). Here's my new theory: good heroes are trying to find a new empath to fight WTTBM, who being an empath who has every single ability because he's been around so long and has absorbed every power there is to absorb (if it's Bob, this would explain why the company finds specials), could only be challenged by another empath who would gain all of his powers when they met. A long time ago, Kensai, the other major empath at the time, was defeated by WTTBM, so now Peter is the new one, and the series is about him finding himself so he can eventually challenge WTTBM and set things right once more in the heroes universe. It's vague, but I think it ties everything together. Hiro's adventures with Kensai will teach him things that he will later be able to pass on to Peter so Peter won't be defeated by WTTBM the way Kensai was. I'm not really sure how Sylar fits into this. Maybe him losing his powers has some significance also. I see him as sort of becoming WTTBM's lackey at some point or something like that.

I know a lot of people seem to think so in a lot of threads, but I'm not onboard with the whole Kensei=empath thing. We've seen nothing to suggest this so far. I'm sure Hiro is in the past to gain vital information - or to make small changes - maybe send messages forward - perhaps clues hidden within the Kensei legends he is creating.

But I don't see why we all think Kensei is an empath.

Maybe his special significance is that he's the only one who can survive Maya's black tears (and by 'survive' I mean die and revive). Maybe WTTB will be temporarily weakened by the black tears – before he absorbs it – while Ken dashes in and beheads him.

But then, if WTTB was an empath, he'd nick Ken's rebirth thing anyway. So it all falls down.

Hell, maybe that’s what the problem is. WTTB is an empath, and he’s met Kensei. So, even when the forces of light do manage to kill him, he pops right up again – just like a daisy!

=/ Theory loops suck. BOOO!

Okay... err... let’s try something else. Hiro and Ken meet an empathic WTTB in the past. Hiro convinces Ken to destroy himself and take his power off the shelf before WTTB finds him - to save the future! And that’s why, when Kensei met the dragon, legend says that he ripped out his own heart! "Kill the Daisy - Save the World!"

Gosh! I could go on all day! Someone distract me please?

lol. I often talk myself into circles and make myself dizzy also, so don't feel bad, not that you did or anything. I think the reason a lot of people are theorizing about the possibility of Kensai being empath is the spoiler that mentions him having multiple "powers". As far as WTTBM, he seems to have a mind power of some kind, but if it's Bob like the spoilers say, he can also turn things to gold. So for me, it seems both have multiple powers, which sort of screams out empath, though I guess there are other possibilities. And as far as two beings that have the invincibility/immortality power goes, there may be a weakness, like when Peter didn't come back until the shard in his neck was removed. Perhaps removing the heart permanantly destroys a person even if they can regenerate, or removing a brain or head. Even a lizard can't regenerate its brain.
